HOT OFF THE TEXT

"Dorset Square runs in the 1m 6f handicap. He disappointed at Galway before finishing a close second at Tramore last time. He will love this ground and the trip and must have every chance here but Pauls buggered off to ride Domination so watch out for that one Dano me Boy.
Tawaagg goes for the 2 mile handicap hurdle. He jumped slowly when third at Tramore last time but might find it easier to jump in this slower ground. He was second in the MCR Hurdle last year and, if able to recapture that form, he should be involved today. But watch out for the Bull Hayes what a monster
Bundle Of Fun runs in the 3 mile handicap hurdle. This is his first run in a handicap hurdle but his experience in handicap chases should stand to him here. He will love the trip but we are a bit anxious about the ground for him and watch out for scruffy Martin
Sin Palo goes for the winners bumper. He is a big horse who should be up to carrying his penalty for winning at Killarney. We think he needs much better ground but if he handles these conditions he should give a very good account of himself but i say that every day to you and Oddy and ive yet to get it right, but listen Dano today is the Day"

Nass: He's had a very quiet season so far compared to recent years mate, must have a great chance in the Silver Cup though

Hello lads.

Plenty of choice today,if at a lower grade than yesterday.

Haven't had a real chance to go through any of the h'caps but the first horse who jumped off the page was Son Amix in the beginners event at Listowel, the 4.25.

Much better than these over timber, the exception being Mister Nosie, but that was a long time ago,and has some useful form in graded events.Unfortunately he is trading at evens, which is probobly still value but too short for most punters in such a contest.

GL all.

Tahrir Square for me today - I've been waiting for this horse to run again since Stratford. I believe I'm right in saying that the same trainer had Quito de la roque under her care once upon a time and she rates this horse in the same league. I think it'll run a big race today!!

Anyone got a link for the racing at Ayr? I don't have Racing UK but do have the afternoon off so need to get a link otherwise I'll have to go to the bookies to watch it.
To go with Take It To The Max I'm backing Princeton Plains in the 4.55 at Listowel. Just watched Geton and Mr Harty seemed quite keen on its chances. Two each way bets today.

Thought I'd better stay with Mac's Power for Ayr Gold Cup. Seems best on good ground though and forecast is for rain on Friday, thunderstorms on Saturday. Think he's won over 7f but I dunno about soft going?

Ayr 16:50 Frontline Girl 11/1 - CD winner only 2 pounds higher than last winning mark and really seems to like the course. Seems to be his best distance and the ground shouldn't be a problem either.

Not a day for total confidence but a few i think will be here or there abouts...

3.20 Ayr - Swiftly Done, 4/1
CD winner lto at Ayr in August in very similar conditions to today, that also on the back of a good win at Newmarket again over 8f's. Although placed 3rd lto at Muss (mustnt have been a windy day that day... <whistle> ) it was still a good enough run for me to think he will bounce back to winning ways here... <ok>

3.55 Listowel – MONTE CARLO 11/2 (BOG) (NAP)

A competitive handicap for horses rated 50-80 (3yo+) with 18 runners set to start the race. Looking through the race one horse stands out as a type that could easily turn out to be better than his current rating and that is MONTE CARLO (currently rated 80). He has had just four starts so far and looks completely unexposed. This son of Montjeu has a nice staying pedigree and should hold every chance of winning this heat.

Monte Carlo made just the one start as juvenile at Dundalk back in November 2010 over 1m. He didn’t show much that day held up towards the rear and just keeping on at the one pace for Sean Levey, however it seems obvious that he was going to make a better 3yo and already this has proven to be the case. He made his seasonal reappearance at Galway back in July and put up a very good effort that day when running 3rd of 7 in a three way photo eventually losing out by a head, held up by Heffernan he made good progress before staying on strongly suggesting his future would be over further than the 1m4f he contested that day. However he stuck at that trip to break his maiden at the third time of asking when again settling in mid division before making late headway, this time he managed to get to the lead right at the end under a very good Joseph O’Brien ride. On the bare form of that run the handicapper probably has him right with a mark of 80 but he was worth more than the head winning distance that day as he had to come wide and Joseph was not hard on him in the closing stages and eased down right at the line.

Monte Carlo made his handicap debut on Saturday at the Curragh over 1m6f off a mark of 80 (runs off the same mark today). He only managed to finish 6th of 14 at the weekend but was never put in the race by David McCabe and a large gamble (6-1 in the morning 15-8 SP) on this horse went astray. In my opinion he was never given a real chance that day by his jockey and things just didn’t go to plan, therefore I feel he is certainly worth another chance over this distance, Monte Carlo did plug on eventually on Saturday but the leading group were already away. He should handle the Heavy ground and Joseph O’Brien who is 1 from 1 on him takes over this afternoon.

2.10 Yarmouth BABY DIVA 4-1

Shaped really well in a fair maiden at Salisbury last month when finishing 8th behind Firdaws from the Varian yard. Looked to be in with place claims untill weakening late on in the race. Was very keen that day and should know more about what is required this afternoon. 4-1 seems a fair bet
