Spurs fans have had previous though, so it’s not like we’re perfect. Hugo has been sarcastically jeered in the past after he finally caught a ball after having continuously punched it. He still gets sniggers from the crowd whenever he ****s up a kick too. In general, most actual booing is aimed at the team more so than an individual player, usually after a bad result/ run of bad form, and all sets of fans have been guilty of that. Trippier was well supported and he showed his gratitude when he left the club by thanking the club and fans as well as wishing us all the best for future in his Instagram post.
Haha yeah I saw that at the time too. Someone he knew must’ve eventually told him in the end as he edited it.
I'm pretty certain, when Bale joined Real Madrid, it was reported that Spurs would have first refusal should Bale undergo a transfer. But even so, I seriously Levy or Poch would want Bale back for a variety of reasons.
In other news, can somebody link this tweet to everyone spamming our Twitter demanding we sign somebody? Seriously, ****ing hell...
People are justifiably getting nervous. We cannot hide behind one signing as if it represents true progress when the harsh truth is we've needed reinforcements in CM for 2 years. As it stands, we are currently weaker at RB, ST and go into the season with at least 3 senior players who don't really want to be here anymore. I'm willing to ride the storm for the coming 10 days but if by the close of the window nothing else has changed, I and many others will be deeply concerned.
The fact that they're acting as if we haven't signed anybody has more than a slight whiff of entitlement Frankly, all things considered the fact we managed to find a buyer for Janssen is just as important as making a signing, as failing to clear out the deadwood was what cost us more than anything else in last season's transfer windows
On a slightly different tangent, with the exceptions of Amos and Clarke we haven't loaned any of the youngsters yet, and surely a few will be loaned due to how stacked the U23 squad looks right now
He does. He also has, by his own admission, very little control over transfer negotiations. I doubt that means Levy chooses the players but it does mean if Poch wants a player - let's say Lo Celso - and he's on the market for £60m but Levy will only sanction £50m, we won't be buying Lo Celso. Simple as.
I'd be worried if we were alone in needing to do business. However, there are so many deals yet to be done that the log jam has got to burst soon. United will be trying to move on Sanchez, Lukaku and maybe Pogba, whilst they need centre halves. Liverpool have done nothing. Everton, likewise. PSG have to resolve Neymar, Madrid have Bale, Juve and Dybala, etc., etc. Once a few moves are resolved, I'm hopeful we'll go good business. If we don't we're ****ed again and run the risk of having to do even more business next summer to replace Toby and Christian Eriksen. There's little room for putting deals off after last summer's failure.
Yeah but I think the stadium delay ****ed us, it's not a complete excuse for our lack of strengthening but I definitely think it played a part. I was nailing it last summer up until the new signings business (which I blame on unforeseen stadium problems), I made this post during last year's summer window: We've now made a marquee signing in Ndombele whilst Clarke will improve the squad next season. Things I'll call for this window: Sess will sign (probably this week). Lo Celso will sign. Dybala won't sign (deep down we all know it) but we'll still be disappointed at it once the deadline passes because we're Spurs fans. We'll add one or two others, my guesses would be a RB and/ or a ST.
Rumour has it that the Lo Celso deal was agreed and then Betis tried to up the price. I doubt Poch would want Levy to buckle to that tactic. Would any one else?
Naturally, with the stories linking Eriksen with Juve, this has led to the Reddit crowd suggesting we demand Cancelo as part of the deal Just a thought: if the plan is to have Foyth transition into a RB, a better choice would be a Trippier-like signing who is solid and can do a job when called on, albeit they are not someone to be promoted to first-choice as the weaknesses in their game would be exposed If that's the route we follow, Joakim Maele of Genk is a good choice as he'll be relatively inexpensive, and while I acknowledge it is in the Jupiler League he does at least appear to understand that crossing the ball means aiming the ball at the head of somebody wearing the same shirt as you instead of the midsection of somebody wearing a different shirt - and with Burnley and Southampton reportedly looking at him, that means he's a low-risk move now as opposed to a potentially high-cost one a season or two down the line
To my mind that's a subjective question. How valuable is the player in the eyes of our manager? How does he compare to cheaper alternatives? And most importantly: by how much did Betis raise the price and does our manager concur with his chairman that this makes his preferred target unreasonable? Because that's the thing. Poch has done so much for so long on so little that he has more than earned the right to turn round to Levy and tell him that Player A is still worth pursuing despite Price Hike B. I just don't think Levy will listen.
