On the loanee thread someone implied that Devitt was playing well because he was at a much lower level-league 2. Well as we have seen with Brighton and Southampton players can jump at least one level and perform as well if not better than other players. And Dawson and Ashbee did it from league 2 to the Premiership. In Devitts case he has for the last two games performed "well above" the level of league 2. So surely that bodes well for the future for him and City.

Takes a while for a player to establish himself, I remember thinking that Stuart Pearson would never make it but look how well he did. Yes he (Devitt) is already 21 but players develop at different rates. And football like all sports is part an innate skill and part a learned skill. Contrary to what they say you can teach an old dog (in Devitts case a pretty young dog) new tricks.

Full disclosure have not seen Devitt play.

You can definatley learn as you get older, but he's to lightweight.
There are exceptions to the rule, but you have to be one hell of a player in the modern game to get by on skill alone.
I honestly hope he can prove people wrong, but I just think he would progress more at another club without the loan situation in the back of his head.

Not sure if your refering to me?

I would tend to stick by my opinion of Devitt, which is that he would make a good league 1 player with a side like Scunny and may AT BEST perform for a yo yo team like Scunny in the Championship so he may yet play in the Championship for a season or so but I just dont think he will ever cut it in the Championship long term, certainly not with a bigger club. At the moment he MUST work on the strength side of his game.

And hey... I hope I'm proved wrong and he comes back to City and ends up been worth a few million quid but I just cant see it.

Also was you making reference to the Stuart Pearson of now 62 years old who started out with City and went on to play for Man U?

    Take care WSTiger

Yes the same Pearson (we have a lot of Pearsons associated with City). Thought he was a little older than that-but maybe not. A great player. I think he got some England caps???

    That's grammar, rather than spelling.
