TBH I'd be worried if I were a Villa fan. We might complain about Radz being tight but if it goes wrong for them and the owner decides they've had enough they'll go bankrupt. Not sure how they're getting round FFP (again) at the moment.
Thanks Doc get to know BTW on Friday how they are going to tackle my problem fingers crossed how about you Why I said to the Doc that I hadn't got cancer was the fact that I have had 5 x rays on my chest in 4 weeks and no one spotted it!
Been doing some light reading on yesterdays Leeds V Girona match, as not many match reports around. But seemingly the best Leeds players on view were: Douglas Harrison Stevens Alioski Toss up for MOM between Stevens and Harrison Seems Douglas is now doing what he did at Wolves and sending in great crosses?
It is strange though WJ, two we've released in Dalby & Diaz go to teams in leagues above us, don't you think that's odd?
We went out to get Sam Dalby and it was a tough job as plenty of clubs were chasing him. He was key for the U23s earlier in the season then sent out on loan to Morecambe. i think he was either homesick or felt his face didn't fit. But gutted to see him go, but to a Prem team. Hugo Diaz U23 captain, won the lot this year and played in most positions at the back, released and goes to a La Liga outfit? why hasn't Edmondson got a squad number? Love to know whats happening at TA right now
Good question, but I have no idea. Could it be that they're going to go nowhere in those clubs too? Let's be clear here - they've not all of a sudden become world beaters at these clubs - they've only signed for them. Might never even play for the 1st XI. From our side, perhaps we considered that we had better coming through that were about to - or already had - surpassed their abilities/potential? I honestly have no idea.
I never really seen enough of Dalby to comment. I've always thought he was a sacrificial lamb - loaned out because we couldn't fully develop both him & Edmondson at the same time. If both were defenders or midfielders, it might have been different. When you only have one up-front spot to develop someone, I believe the club made the right decision to choose only one. Only time will tell if they chose the right one. Diaz, however, I watched a lot. The best I can offer for him was that he was solid and dependable. And versatile. Perhaps too versatile? A future 6-7/10 journeyman, imho. For his sake, I hope I'm wrong.
No worries, just I know you watch the U23s a lot and you've always spoken highly of and rated Diaz in particular. When I meant odd, we didn't even try to get a fee for him and then a LaLiga side are prepared to see what he can offer. I understand they might not make the grade at their new clubs but usually when a player is released, their trajectory is downwards not up.
Until he makes it into their 1st XI, it'll always be a sideways move for me. He's a solid kinda player, but never really flourished with us, imo. If he was a 6.5/10 u23 player, Halme was an 8 & Struijk a 9. I've only had a couple of looks at Casey, who's just come through from the u18s, & was stunned by him. At least a 7.5 (but very little game time to judge, tbf). I think it was a simple case that we had better than him. Even though he was out of contract, are we still not entitled to development costs for him. He's only 22, so certainly qualifies by age.
Yeah Dalby had Kun, Clarke, Edmondson and Stevens in competition and those 4 either played first team or made the bench
I know I'm going against the tide here, but I still don't think Stevens is all he's cracked up to be. He fits in, rather than stands out, if you know what I mean. I so hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he'll be special or consistent enough for us. Well, that's prolly guaranteed him 200 caps & 1000 PL goals for us Not too wild about Kun either, I might add. But it's early yet for him, and he's more consistent.
