The best centre midfielder at the club for me and I'd play him every time he's fit. He also addresses the pretty damn prominant yet not often mentioned issue we have regarding lack of height in the side. He's also a thoroughly nice chap which helps.

I'd go along with that too. He'd be in my starting 11 everytime.

    Great player.

You may mock but it is defo something the current management take into account. NP makes FAR more positive comments about welcoming Oli back than he did about He Who Shan't Be Named, when essentially the situation on paper was similar for the pair of them.

He will be a great asset. I think he will be best used away from home as the holding midfielder, to allow the front 4 to attack.
also, will never forget that incredible goal against Stoke!

We need him as Evans has come up a bit short so far this season though I think he has a lot of potential to improve yet.

I agree, However it says in the mail that his £28K a week may be a stumbling block but I don't understand this as they have to pay him anyway. I would like to see him in the team on a regular basis.

I still think though that Oli will go in January whether it be on loan or for good which is disappointing but can kind of understand it due to his wages. I commented recently that I did not think we would see Oli in a City shirt again. I hope he can get the chance to prove his worth.

hear hear, it shall be absolutely spiffing to see the Hull City boys give Pompey a jolly fright followed by cucumber sandwiches without the crust and a nice refreshing bottle of cold ginger beer.. One can then watch the highlights later on Pathé news at the odeon.. what. ;)

Wasn't the reason we stopped playing him due to a contract clause that hiked up his wages on another appearance.

If so doesn't that still apply?

    Cairney's a right knob? Explain...???

He is one of our best players, I'd rather drop McKenna or Koren before Cairney or Oli any day of the week.

Cant you see that Cairney is young and will develop into a superb player, he is already representing his country. At least if your going to call him a knob, have the decency to back it up with some substance?

He is our best passer of the ball by far. Just watch next game how many times Cairney gives the ball away even if he does have to go backwards or side ways at time, the answer is... Very rarely. I'd rather see us keep possession than give it away with long punts forward all the time. Cairney is a very intelligent footballer with a good head on his shoulders for such a young man, very composed.

I'd agree with that. McKenna and Oli would be expected to perform the same role in the midfield.

As previously mentioned, I think the advantage Oli has over the like of McKenna is his aerial threat from set pieces

Yes mate thats true, plus I just think he is an overall better quality player, although I have to give McKenna some credit over the last 2 games I've thought he's looked OK compared to his first few games for us when I thought he would end up been another Harper but McKenna has/is improving. Still struggle to see how he was ever Forests captain. Far too quiet.

I disagree about Mckenna being quiet, he's always in the ref's face and getting involved

I'm talking about McKenna talking to other City players and picking them up etc. He aint a true leader in my book and we've never replaced Ashbee in terms a proper, decent captain. Mine would probably be Rosenior. Dawson is way too quiet as well.
