I would say he has used his talent very well. Have to have some amount of talent to get to a position where someone wants to give you a mil a week

Winning four European Cups ain't exactly bad either, willing to bet we won't see a more successful academy graduate for a generation at minimum.

The owners of Jiangsu Suning also own Inter Milan. He'll spend the off-season playing on loan in Serie A and then will return to China to play their season, which isn't as long as a European season anyway. Easy money.

He's in his 30s and has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and has also won the Champions League on FOUR separate occasions, playing in every final and scoring an incredible overhead kick (which many will argue is the best UCL final goal ever) in one of the finals and he also scored another goal in another of those finals too.

On top of that he won Premier League Player of the Year and PFA POTY (twice - while with Tottenham...), PFA YPOTY once, and has been in the FIFPro and UEFA teams of the year on multiple occasions too. He's also represented his country 77 times, scoring 31 goals and leading them to a major finals - which they got to the semi-finals in.

How anyone can say he's thrown anything away or not reached his potential is absolutely bonkers.

    This is worth remembering.

If anyone told us lot that we should have taken X job because you could earn X amount more or that you'd enjoy it more then we would all think they were an absolute ****.

Lots of Welsh fans hoping that Gareth will still be able to play for his country after the move and will hopefully be less injury prone...

Interesting to see that La Liga are opposed to Friday and Monday night football. I can see the logic. The biggest night out for Friends and families is the Friday. And as for the Monday, it needs no explanation. It begs the question why Monday night football is OK in the EPL? For me Friday, Saturday and Sunday should be the days when weekend matches are played.

Are there some clubs that seem to be on Mondays more than any one else or is there a fair distribution? If Wolves get through the the group stages of the EL, I suspect they will be playing a lot of Monday night fixtures, given that Arsenal and Manchester United draw bigger global audiences and Sundays are the better day to cash in on this. Otherwise it will go to teams with less appeal like Norwich, Brighton, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Watford, West Ham - the latter three because they can play other London teams on a Monday which does not involve a lot of travel.

PS: Who were the Monday night "champions" last season?

I'm a little old fashioned..Saturday at 3pm is when weekend matches ought to be played. [controversial thought - 2pm in winter]

Saints will have far higher percentage of Saturday 3pm kick-offs than any of the top six or the London clubs, or Brighton. How many will Manchester United or Arsenal play, and if Wolves progress to the knock out phase this will reduce 3 pm kick-offs to two or three in the New Year, Add to that, the mid-winter break in the PL.

December and the beginning of January is crazy with 10 or matches being played by many clubs - EPL, Caribou qf and sf, final round in the CL and EL, World Club Championship for Liverpool and FA Cup. February and March could be quiet for some clubs.

    I'll just mention it again

£155 million. That is a lot of money. Even if you are rich already.

He has made enough money already to last his lifetime. That will last his lifetime, his kids and maybe his grandkids. That's if the planet lasts.

Gareth has achieved more than most players and isn't a youngster starting out on his career, so perhaps he just wants a change with excellent money. There are only a few European sides that won't be seen as a step down and some of those can't afford him. The pity is that he can't do so well at a European side that he shoves it up Real's nose (or their manager's to be precise).

According to the Mirror, Bale is going to China alone and, according to a relative he isn’t that keen on Chinese food. That will help him integrate. :bandit:

No expert, but I suspect in a country that size the food will vary in the same way as it does in India. I'm very limited in what I eat, but even I could find something I liked. And when you are as rich as Bale, you can eat what you want anyway.

Chinese food is incredible and very different from the crap we get in this country. And of course you can find other countries' cuisines there. Pretty sure for a million quid a week Gareth can have his own team of chefs to pour the milk into his coco pops.

Putting a positive slant on the whole thing; in a sense Gareth can achieve more in China than just winning silverware. Just like the BBC says, he will create a legacy there, and he will have a god-like status in that country (the world's new superpower remember) for the rest of his life. I can understand why that might be appealing, with or without the bonkers cash he'll earn on top.
