Sheffield Unitedâs Matt Lowton is reported to be the reason for boss Paul Jewellâs trip to watch the Blades in action against Huddersfield on Tuesday, as revealed by TWTD. The Blues are also being linked with a loan move for Manchester Cityâs Israeli international winger Gai Assulin. Town have been linked with 22-year-old Lowton since July when Blackpool were also said to be interested. Soon after, the South Yorkshire club were reported to have put a £4 million price tag on the right-back, centre-half or midfielder. The Blues are said to be targeting the Chesterfield-born player initially on loan but with a view to a permanent deal. Assulin, who was born in Israel to a Libyan father and a Russian mother, joined Manchester City on a free transfer from Barcelona in August 2010 when some reports rated him at around the £34 million mark. Israelâs youngest-ever full international, Assulin played youth football in his home country with Hapoel Haifa and Beitar Nes Tubruk before joining the Catalan sideâs youth set-up in 2003. In 2007 the 5ft 10in tall attacking midfielder progressed into the Barcelona B team then run by current first team boss Pep Guardiola. After a couple of seasons in the B team, one disrupted by a knee injury, Assulin made appearances for the senior side in friendlies and in the Copa del Rey before moving on to City with Arsenal also reported to be interested. Capped just the one for his country, against Chile in 2008, the 20-year-old is yet to make a first team appearance since moving to England. A wide midfielder, like a right-back such as Lowton, is very much understood to be on boss Jewell's current wish list. Pipe dream or reality? Hopefully we could pull this double swoop off!!!
Lowton is just the sort of player we need for the future . Assulin sounds quality, would he come to Town , ****ing hope so......
Sure you can get yourself a tent for less than that SN, after all it is supposed to be the end of the camping season....?
The fact that SN23 seems to post the first reply on most of our threads is starting to concern me. Does anyone know if we have him on loan pending a permanent move?
Yeah nice one Jewelly! Its just a shame your about 6 weeks too late! We needed a Right Back to be signed in the Summer!
JWM Has Edwards really been that bad or has he been used as a scapegoat? Anyhow, as the saying goes 'Better late than never'
We have been light in that position for 2 season's now. I'm not blaming Edwards for being constantly caught out of position because as we all know he just aint a Right Back!
He has been no better or no worse than 95% of his colleagues!! I think some have been a bit more vocal in their criticism of the Edwards situation due to him being seen as being played out of position. On how people have played I think most would give Stockdale and Cresswell plus points. Sonko and Collins have done well in the little that have been seen of them. Chopra will most probably not get much grief due to the lack of service he is getting and other than those I think it is definately a case of MUST do better.
Spoke to some of the locals here about Assulin and they said he is quality and was tipped to be bigger than Messi, this is from Madrid supporters aswell as Barca supporters!! Me thinks this could be beyond us, hopefully not but i don't fancy our chances!!
I am taking a week out with the family, all week at my fathers house in Ipswich now i m at my sisters in Woolpit..... I actually really like Suffolk....... We went out for dinner in Felixtow yesterday too, i guess i just hate London at the moment........
Me too SN23, then i thought it may have something to do with the fact you are permanantly camped on our site!!
Gai Assulin on loan ? If only ! Would COMPLETELY transform this team. Ability galore the lad. I wish....................
