Trump - the point is, he would be racist about white Russians, so I don't see it as a black/white racism - but any kind of "go back to where you come from" rhetoric is racist.

You're ignoring the fact that Boris did not simply appoint an ethnic minority member to a lowly Cabinet position for the sake of appearances. Apart from PM, there are no more senior positions in the Cabinet than Chancellor of the Exchequer or Home Secretary. That is a major statement.

I don't see the piccaninnie comments as racist - more lazy, 1950's type stereotyping, and to be avoided for that reason.

Big daft Boris says money is no object when it comes to preparation for no deal. How come we have such poverty, poor services, homelessness, mental health issues, etc etc etc if money is no object. ****in tory ****ers

In that case, how is that Jewish Labour MP's have left the party claiming intimidation? How is it that Labour is being investigated and no other party is? How is that Labour MP's have been incredibly critical for allowing this kind of abuse of Jewish people to go on?

When did a Muslim conservative last need police protection to go to a party conference? The kind of complacency you're demonstrating is a huge part of why this thing has blown up into something so serious in Corbyn's Labour.

I think that, even by the standards of a new PM coming in mid term, an abnormally large number of the cabinet were binned, hence 'purge' etc. It was quite ruthless - even keeping Hancock at Health after he spent weeks sucking up to him is fairly harsh. And no semblance of an attempt to balance wings of the party, which is also abnormal.

That'll be the pessimistic prediction yes?

The other prediction is that it's an excellent appointment.

    50% remainers and leavers.
    Seems pretty balanced.
    Lots of diversity too.

    Good start.

    No, they're all bleeding Tories!

Where does the Remainer/Leaver split come from? They've all had to swear to No Deal. Surely nobody who voted Remain could do that unless they've abandoned all principles.

It’s a temporary government though, just designed to deliver one thing in 3 months time.
what do you think Col? Not pessimistic from my perspective, as I said Cummings is sensationally clever but also a bit nuts, should be fun! He dreamt up the £350m for the NHS on the side of the bus gag.

Looks more to me like a seizure of power by a group of right wing free market fundamentalists - like a corporate coup d'etat, which nobody voted for. Friends of mine here are amazed that the internal problems of a party which never had more than 37% of the votes cast, and has only about 130,000 members could have such far reaching consequences - this could never happen in a real democracy.

Cummings, from what I understand, has drive and determination to see things through.
He was campaign chief for vote leave.
Drove through Gove's free schools, which has been very successful.
His drive should help preperations for no deal, which the EU must believe we'll do.
May was pathetic in this regard.

Early days, but so far, Boris is doing well.
