I still don't think with support he'll get many goals. Unlike Birchall, Kedwell has had any league experience. You can work your socks off as much us you like but even the best players make chances for themselves when you have no support (like Tevez did for City over the last few seasons).

Don't get me wrong, I want him to be in the goals, but I just can't see it, even with a changed system.

Distance (for home games) and circumstance (for away) have meant that I've not seen the Gills this season and so only have board comments to go from - usually more intuitive that the GFC website version.

But it seems to me that
    a) We are usually playing 4-5-1
    b) We are frequently playing a long ball game

These two are surely incompatible from an attacking point of view. What's the point of having 5 in the midfield if the ball usually goes over the top of them? Other than to form a first line of defence when it comes back when Kedwell doesn't pick up the long ball, which is probably going to be most of the time.

I've been (un)fortunate to have missed only one game (despite home games involving a 100 mile trip !)- therefore suffered more than most! -
Any more 4-5-1 hoofball and I might have to move up north - Oh by the way stop copying me !

    ??????

Please clarify. I've just wasted 5 minutes scouring this thread to find out if I'd inadvertantly come to the same opinion as you and you'd got there first, but I've obviously inadvertantly done it on another thread

No fuse blowing, just concern that I'd upset you seriously - something I'd never do intentionally.

I'm also no fan of the long ball game as a basic plan. I think we all know that a well directed long pass can be an absolute killer, but just a hoof upfield in the hope that someone (in our case Kedwell) latches onto it is seldom likely to achieve much that is postive.

And, by the way, if you do move North, avoid Rochdale, unless you're moving to watch some quite attractive lower league football (despite the departure of Keith Hill).

I hope you went to the play off game at Rochdale a couple of years ago - that was a good game of football.
