Goons have announced Ceballos on loan. He looks like a very tasty player but if loan was the only option then I’d rather we aren’t doing other club’s development for them and paying a loan fee for the privilege, thank you very much.
Only way I would accept him on a season loan with no option to buy was if : 1. Madrid paid all his wages 2. there is no nonsense about minimum number of "guaranteed" games
Without an 'option to buy' and no 'buy back clause', this was always a no-no for us...and it seems the player still sees his future in Madrid. We don't need to be doing that kind of business, they do.
It worked for Wolves, but their approach had much more strategy - he took a few players with him from Porto and then generally stuck to the Spanish/Portuguese leagues for the remainder. Villa's approach has been scatterbrained; more so than Fulham who were at least (in theory) signing pretty well-known, established players. Dean Smith has one heck of a job on his hands.
Correct. IIRC, Arsenal are the only team in the top 6 to have made any loan signings in the past 5 years. Correct me if I'm wrong.
So who wants to be first in suggesting that Grealish might be available for a discount this time next year?
Wolves also had the benefit of Jorge Mendes' knowledge and experience, as he represented the club, the players and the manager.
Chelsky loans were I guess due to them expecting their transfer ban to bite sooner (although they appeared to have had buy options for all those players) .
Tbf to villa, whereas fulham tore up their team for all these new signings, half the players that got them up were loans and they went up on one of the snallest squads. They have been forced into making signings as they only had around 10 players senior players (i don't know if it's really ten, just that they didn't have many)
Only 68 minutes for someone to get Toby for £25m...thought there'd have been someone in for him ages ago ... Roma don't count ... the tight twats
Chelsea also use the loan system extensively and have senior players out that they're not sure they can get rid of. It mitigates the risk of being lumbered with too many wage drains, while they test out some older loanees.
Yeah, they had eight players on loan and also cleared out a hell of a lot of squad players and older heads. Hause and Mings were there in the last campaign as loanees too, so it's not as many new people in the dressing room as it may seem.
Not really. Not stellar + young enough to be taken by an apex club. Not high priority position for the PL clubs he would like to join who could match/better Spurs wages + offer CL. Nemesis has come calling for Toby ...
