I have been prone to criticising the club in the past but it looks like we are pulling together as best we can at the moment. Bowyer is working miracles on zero money.
He's a decent player, got injured and then dropped from the first team when he threw his toys out the pram when Dons turned down bids from Ipswich. Dons brought through a homegrown centre back (Nightingale) who played well and was subsequently made captain. If we get the Oshilaja of two seasons ago rather than last season then we have a decent player. Source - mate has a dons season ticket.
It's gone very quiet on the signing front. Six to seven players required and two weeks to go before the window closes.
It would have been nice to have the squad put together way before the season starts. Instead we'll be trying to find a system to play, bedding in players whilst trying to get 3 points.
All things are possible with the yellow toothed tiger. Remember that he blocked signing a striker on a freebie last January because we"had enough strikers". He's playing his own little game.
Just to clarify a couple of things I'm not sure of; 1. When the transfer window closes does that mean no more loans as well? 2. Can Clubs still sign players after the transfer window closes if those players are free agents (out of contract)?
My guess is that we end up with Josh Parker again; the spin will be that we would like to take another look at him as he did so well last time.........!!!!! Has our once proud club really sunk so low? How l hate our owner.
Josh Parker did better than I think most of us expected. In league 1. Releasing him in may and bringing him back now would really take a lot of justification - the management team would be forced to accept they were wrong about him playing at this level (and then pray he could cut it in the Championship) or say he was the best RD's money could buy. Can't see him coming back this season though,.
If Parker, Harriott or Magennis are signed up again I hope we will not be told that they were always on Bowyer & Gallen's 'wanted' list. If we are told that, I'm going to have a problem believing it.
Aribo just scored for Rangers in Europa League. Yet Bowyer didn't want him to come to us, he would have preferred he went to Brentford? Mental.
To be fair, a mob from Luxembourg, but last year we got into the group stages and played the likes of Villarreal, Rapid Vienna etc. Anyway, I realise the Scottish league isn't great but playing European football and Old Firm games will be better for his advancement than Brentford. Bowyer's comments just seemed like sour grapes, that's all.
progres' ground holds 2800. luxembourg is the 91st best team in the world. our youth team would beat them.
