Question: Did anybody old enough to remember Ginola vote for Robert?

It was a close one between Ginola and Robert. Ginola for me though, he was literally amazing. Robert is also one of my favourite players but I remember being frustrated with him far more often than I ever was with Ginola.

Two of my favourite players so Ginola only just pinches it.

Presuming not many judging by comments. Maybe we should've just had a 'how old are you?' poll?

Me, remember both very well. Robert was much better in my opinion, more goals and I would suggest more assists. That was in a worse team as well.

Surprised to hear you think he was much better. I thought it was a reasonably close call but Ginola was a more exciting player to watch with the ball at his feet so won it for me.

I think Robert done it over a much longer period of time but Ginola was truly world class when he was here, by anyone's standards.

I think Robert was too, he could've got in any team in the world the way he was playing for us that first season.

I was a massive Ginola fan, however I'm with Sombrero on this one.

Terry Hibbert was the best left footed midfielder we've ever had, I think if you asked Supermac who provided most of his goals when he was at SJP he wouldn't hesitate to credit Hibbert with that stat.

The only downside is you have to be an old twat like me to remember him.

Also the poll was for the Premier League XI, we're having enough bother with Ginola without worrying about old gits like you...

    No offense!

Proves the old adage that there are lies, damned lies and then statistics.....or something like that.

Statistics prove nothing otherwise Batty would have been the best passer of a ball ever just because he never passed a ball further than 5 yards.

Ginola had flair and talent in abundance. Many games especially in his first season he was worth the admission money on his own never mind Ferdinand et al.

I liked Robert but in all honesty I would never put him in the same class as Ginola never mind better.

    Grandad rant over.

Spot on there Jim. Those two balls he put through for McDonald at the FA Cup semi final were unbeatable. One of my best memories of him though came in around 1993. He was at the match in the corner of the Milburn stand leazes side. Someone recognised him and the old poseurs and noisy buggers spent the entire half time singing "Terry Hibbert on the wing". He lapped it up, standing on his seat dancing the whole time. Poor bugger died not long after that.... :emoticon-0106-cryin

I agree. Robert was a very good footballer who did well for Newcastle. Ginola was a world class and would have walked into tjust about any team in world football. He was that good.
