Seen this show twice and it was fantastic. Back then they were still using Richard Burton's voice for the Journeyman.

Sunday lunch in our house as a kid included Richard Burton’s voice booming the messages from War of the World’s out of the speakers in the kitchen.

    Loved his voice.

The two times I saw it live Justin Haywards was still performing this beautiful song and Chris Thompson singing Thunderchild

Just as well that you were not listening to War of the Worlds on the radio in the states in 1938 or you may have needed a new pair of pants

Filler track from the album I'm The Man. It's Friday:

Can this really be from 1979?
EDIT: just realised that was a recording straight from the vinyl. Note the auto pick-up raise at the very end.

Love that album, from one of my favourite artists, who was the complete antithesis of a rock star, even to the extent of catching the bus to gigs.

When Progressive Rock definitely started to get over- indulgent [even I can't hack Relayer, for instance] and disco sound did nothing for me, Punk and New age was just around the corner. I even bought two Police albums in desperation and ended up giving them away. But artists like Stranglers, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson and eventually XTC. were like food to a starving man. They never replaced those pop and prog rock bands, but were added to my collection.

Elvis Costello - Accidents Will Happen. Haven't listened to this in a couple of years and it sounds as fresh as the first day I heard it:

Well, this one does. I put up the first one cos it shows the original single's video:

Me and my injured hand are being over-indulgent today. Bear with me if you can. :1980_boogie_down:

[Nicked this from YT] It was going to be called I Don't Want to Go to Stoke Newington, but it didn't quite have the same ring. Chelsea:

Remember buying this album way back then because on the reverse side of the album cover, Joe talked about using a particular studio with a live sound, and using minimal high quality equipment to get the sound to the tapes. And boy, does it show. I still had my Thorens turntable as the principal music maker at the time, and when I put this album on it was like going straight to a Linn Sondek without paying for one. A few years later I did end up paying for one and then the sound quality went through the roof.. Anyway, enough talk. Not Here, Not Now from Body & Soul:

One of my favourite Joe songs is from his next album, the experimental Beat Crazy. it's a sort of a pre-cursor to This is Me from The Greatest Showman...

Yeah, I used to quote one of the lines, back at the time. It fitted the moment: 'see the happy couple - so inseparable...'
