    Afternoon all.

I find the transfer speculation laughable. a £15m signing? Never going to happen. We've already tied an anchor to ourselves & chucked it overboard with Costa. Huge risk if we don't get promoted. I'd expect that he's on excellent money too, like Casillas & Bamford, & with Phillips & Roofe soon to join them. So we need every penny of the £20m or so we've freed up with sales. And spending even £5m on someone is never going to happen. If we sign anyone else, it'll be another cheap foreigner, loan or unknown.

As for the former players, I don't think any of the outfield players would fit in, quite frankly. Schmeichel would have been my choice, given our current situation, but we wouldn't have been his choice, given how he hates us!

Doc's signings post was illuminating, but it only tells part of the story. Loans are the big, big thing this season & it would be really interesting to find out the outlay on them, but it's never going to happen. For me, the most encouraging plus with Radz is that he's our first owner in donkey's years to build for the future, especially his investment in the u23s. Would love to see a table listing every other club's investments in the u23s for the last few years. Think it would be quite an eye-opener - and most encouraging for us! It would seem a lot of clubs are concentrating on survival. End of.

We will know after the first half dozen games what kind of a season we are in for. I am confident we will be successful and look forward to seeing several of the young players being part of it.

WJs comments on academy investment shows you the failures. Watford have signed Sam Dalby from us, Nicell is down at Leicester, we have 3 players at Barnsley, Spurs have signed Jack Clarke. Many of our kids are sought after and Orta has done brilliant work with his scouting out the best. We have spent plenty of cash bringing in the likes of Halme, Struijk, Clarke, Dalby, Stevens, Odour, Hosannah, Miazek, Bogusz, Haughland, McKinstrey, McCarron, Diaz, and many more you aint seen yet because they are only 17 and 18

Investing in the academy is not part of the FFFP rules so if you know your stuff you can pick up future stars which save money having to buy them later or make a profit selling them. Smart

Just watching Premier league years 01/02.

We have just signed Fowler for £11 million.

    A. What would Fowler be with in today's market?
    2. We had Fowler, Viduka, Keane and Smith. Have we ever had for top strikers like that at one time in our history?

Costa can play up front if necessary and Clarke on the right wing.
