and have us as a bit of fun (as it seems) like whats happened to Man City, Anzhi, Malaga and PSG for example and spend millions and millions would you be happy or would it be selling the soul of the club? For me I would take that option everyday of the week

Why? You'd win stuff but without the respect that comes with it, what's the point? No one will respect city If they win the prem this year after spending near on 500 million over a few years.
As Sunderland fans we are used to being the Underdogs and personally I quite like it. Our fans have seen years of dissappointed but some glimours of hope have shone but only to be fastly swept away. Our time will come (I hope!) when the Red & White army becomes a recognised and formiddable force in world football but I hope it is through hard work and the recruitment of hard working, commited & honest professional footballers who want to make it to the top for footballing reasons only. For me the perfect scenario would be to bring through a core of 5 or 6 or even more youngsters and see them set the Premier League on fire and maybe challenge the top 4 one day or win the FA Cup and make Sunderland a more attractive place for players to come too.
Would love the success but it would stick in my throat, I have no respect for the clubs who have done this, but although I hate Man U I have the up most respect for SAF who has built teams up and got the most out of players (Aberdeen and how many teams at Man U) in much the same way as Dalgelish etc have done at Liverpool.
I would say good on them. Any club hoping to do well in the league has to spend mega dosh these days. The only difference between City and the Sky 4 is City are trying to do it very quickly. I'd love to see a new team be crowned Champions of England.
I hear what you say about lack of respect, not for me, I want to earn what we get. Bet like me you would be at the ground even earlier on Sunday with your Sunderland top. And I bet when other fans came on here saying we dont respect your team you would say **** off, I'm one happy bunny
with the new UEFA rule of not spending more than we bring in, what difference would it make? Steady progress for me, win the FA cup and compete in Europe would bring in more cash (revenue), which would allow us to spend more on players and wages. From next season, I doubt we will see more big spending like Man C have done recently.
Looking at it from a slightly different angle, it must be fantastic for City fans to see their team playing some wonderful football this season and really being entertained. Both our clubs have seen a good few empty seats at our home matches but if our teams were playing the type of football that Man City fans are seeing I am sure that we would be filling our grounds every match. Seeing your team competing in the Champions league against clubs like Barcelona is fantastic, winning (buying) a trophy would be the icing on the cake. Mike Ashley alledgedly turned down an offer from the City owners before before they bought City. Imagine how you would feel now if the fat twat had sold us to them.
Hard honest toil, not silver spoon feed syrup to give that warm fuzzy feeling. This is what being Sunderland means to me.
It isn't all about winning the FA/Carling cups, the Premiership/Champions League etc. We are lucky that we have a small but realistic chance of winning one of the two domestic cups. Out of the 92 League clubs more than three quarters have no realistic chance of winning anything other than Paint cups or Freight cups. Their biggest games are usually against a Prem side in a cup run. So then, why do people bother supporting the likes of Macclesfield or Exeter City? They won't ever get into the Champions league. It's who we are. The size of Sunderland and all that goes with it means we will never be as big as Man Utd but it also means that we have our moments, and they mean so much more. One more Prem title for Man U would be very nice for them but imagine what a Prem title would mean to us. Wasn't it fantastic to beat Chelsea away last season. Isn't it good to get the odd win against Liverpool and Arsenal! I reckon the best we can hope for is to be bracketed with Everton, Villa and Spurs. We just may even get a 4th. or 5th. spot in the future.

Says the Liverpool fan whose club got bought out by rich American owners that have just spent 100mil + on new players (and Andy Carroll ). Were **** last season, now they're good. Maybe that's part of the reason I don't respect Liverpool though
2bh I wouldn't care if people respected us or not I would be happy to see world class players in our side playing brilliant football and challenging the very best even if its all because of some rich blokes money. It would fill the ground and put us on the map I bet the Man City fans cudn't give a **** what other fans think of them when they see the likes of Kompany, Aguero, Nasri, Tevez, Yaya and for me the best player in the prem at the minute in David Silva in there side and more importantly challenging for everything.
But clubs cant do it anymore, unless your turnover is very high, you are buggered. Only way it could happen is if Short donated the cash, and name me one owner that has ever donated the cash, i cant think of any, its always a loan, even if its interest free, it still counts.

No. The small scraps of joy I've seen watching the club have probably been worth 3 messi's. An example of this would be Chopra's goal at villa, I landed 4 rows back on a shell suited pensioner. The fact that we earn everything we get makes it much sweeter.
In principal that's what every club is doing... We already have a wealthy owner, the only difference between the clubs is how much money is invested on players. Bruce tries to buy the best players he can for £? of money, where-as Mancini is doing exactly the same, it's purely the amount that is different, but both have the same aim, aquire the best players for the amount of money you have. If we spent £20m on a striker,are we not doing the same? try to buy sucess, it's what we all want to see, is an end product.
