Did they sign him to quell their plasticos, or to be the heir to CR7 ??

If the latter, then they failed big time by continuing to indulge the
cult of Ronaldo, from the time Bale signed to the 2018 CL final.

Bale will fold in the end, because he seems to still want to play football
and not be a more virtuous version of Adebayor and Bogarde in order
to set a benchmark for the game (much as Madrid deserve it) .

I think the latter, Real however failed to calculate or predict that Ronaldo would still be absolutely phenomenal right up until the moment he left, therefore Bale has always been in his shadow, so much so that the Real fans (and seemingly Zidane) have always viewed him as some inferior knock-off despite the fact he’s still produced superb numbers for the club.

You know the Lo Celso talk is getting serious when Statsbomb start producing their comparison radar diagrams...

...and promptly get taken less seriously when somebody notices Dele's diagram looks remarkably dong-like

The hacks would save a lot of time just by reading the "Club watch" + this article.

God knows what "Padj" means, but the proper use of the "spider web"
diagrams tells us that compared to Alli, Lo Celso :

    1. is more successful in dribbling, and more penetrating in distance covered
    2. is fouled more often
    3. has better passing accuracy
    4. is far less active in putting a shift in for the MF press

In Pochettino we trust in upping #4 (even Eriksen does that quite well) .

    PAdj = Possession Adjusted

There's a slight problem with this stat, though - namely it makes no sense, considering this is how Statsbomb defines it...

PAdj stands for “possession adjusted” stats. The reason why we do this is because it normalizes defensive stats for opportunity. Think about it this way: If your teammates always have the ball, then you can’t make any defensive actions, and you would look worse in this statistic compared to a Tony Pulis-style team that sits deep and constantly defends.

When adjusted for possession, tackles and interception output becomes moderately correlated with shots conceded and goals against, as opposed to having no correlation without the adjustment.

In short, it’s an imperfect adjustment, but much better than not having the adjustment at all.

...and I'm sure we can all see the obvious issue here, namely how a player who becomes a passenger when the team doesn't have possession ends up with the same PAdj stat as their teammates who do, with Andros Townsend and Nacer Chadli both being obvious examples of this from the Poch Era

I don't think you have understood how the adjustment works. If Spurs have more possession than Betis then Dele needs fewer interceptions to get the same score as Lo Celso because he will have had fewer opportunities to make interceptions. Differentials between teammates will be unaffected.

What I'm saying is that, by Statsbomb's own definition, the PAdj has less to do with the player themselves and more to do with the teammates around them - which would artificially inflate the stats for a passenger if their teammates were carrying the load for them

Most obviously, Lo Celso's PAdj tackling stat of 3.7 would imply he was a defensive midfielder as the closest we had to a player who managed that last season was Harry Winks with 2.3 - yet if you use the raw data from WhoScored, it says Lo Celso made 1.6 tackles per game in La Liga, so what this means is that 2.1 tackles per game are being pulled out of Statsbomb's backside

But their definition doesn't say that. It merely adjusts the defensive stats for the time spent in defence.

The number of tackles couldn't possibly go up by that many though so there must be some other reason.

Good luck to the lad, I have every sympathy for him. Now let's sort out GKN's career too.

The talk over the past couple days is that the fee is around £6m. Pretty reasonable considering he was terrible.

Mixed feelings about Vinny, when he came to the club we had hope that they had found a gem but it soon became evident his 1st touch was awful and at times looked out of his depth , he lacked ambition to reject a move to Brighton instead chose to sit on his ares and collect his wages when he could have proved the club wrong
Good luck to him down Mexico way but let's hope that the money and shirt he frees up goes to a deserving home grown
