The state of our squad

Bowyer & Gallen seem to be following the same recruitment pattern as last summer. Free transfers they have closely monitored, hopefully supplemented by some Premier League quality loans. We can’t keep taking lower level punts.

 

Good player. I am reasonably happy with our signings. Amos, Osalija, Lockyer, Purrington, Williams, Bonne, Aneke.
I make that seven new signings.

 

Where do you think we will finish in the table next season ?

 

If we can get some decent midfielders and a couple of strikers in, there is no reason why we can't finish above the relegation zone. I can't understand why Oztumer hasn't been announced as I was told that he had.

 

Must be sonething contractural with the problems Bolton are in.

 

Defence & keepers look ok, but we still lack creativity, pace and goals.

 

Like he can’t afford the petrol to get down here to sign.

 

Going five months without getting paid is a disgrace. I think Bolton have five players under contract and two keepers. Billy Clarke is on trial there. He must be desperate.

We've been more or less replacing like-for-like this summer as far as quality is concerned.
Perhaps a slight improvement on last season, but certainly not a step up to a new league.

That (if it is coming at all) will need to come from our loan signings.
A minimum of four who are as good or arguably better than Cullen & Bielik will give Charlton a chance to compete rather than just stumble around in the bottom four or five all season.

 

I don’t think it is like for like in terms of quality.

Aribo, Bielik and Cullen were all vital to our team last season. None of them have actually been replaced - particularly Aribo & Cullen.

Remember when Bielik was on his game and drove the ball forward from midfield - who’s going to do that ? Ditto Aribo with his dribbling and assists.

I’ve just been reading about Fulham’s pre season.

Even if they lose Sessieignon, their front 4 players this season are worth over £50m.

 

i think we could settle into midtable, quite easily. provided we sign some midfielders! we have one that i'd want to start. the rest are not good enough

 

As much chance of us finishing midtable as there is Ivor letting @Royston Vasey and the Elf back on ITTApologist.
