The Wachowskis had to make Bound to be allowed to make The Matrix. Bound is better.

I was reminded of an old pet peeve with all the recent space junk floating around the TV galaxy.

What do you notice about this image of Armstrong's footprint?

Look at the shadows. They're all black. That's because there is no ambient light in space, yet space movie after space movie gets the CGI all wrong with their grey shadows.

Now, there is a rule in CGI that "If it looks right, it is right." When Mr. Pixar, Jon Lasseter, was making his short, Tin Toy, the tin head of the toy was reflective and CGI could mathematically replicate the reflection of the room the toy was in perfectly but it just didn't look right. Lasseter put in white squares instead, like you see on a balloon in a comic. It looked right, even though it couldn't have been more wrong.

So next time you see a space movie, enjoy it but also take pleasure in pointing out smugly to your mates that, "Of course in space there is no ambient light, y'know? Those shadows are completely wrong."

Heard of but never seen it, isn't it lesbian serial killers or something similar?

I hadn't heard of it when I first saw it in the 90s - I just asked for a ticket to whatever was starting next - and thought I'd wandered into a lesbian film festival for the first 20 minutes. But it's much more of a twist and double twist gangster movie. The lesbian angle is just a contrast to the male mafia world. And technically, Vi is bi.

It's true... We've never been on the moon...

... Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong have been there though.

I can understand why some people doubted it. The US had spent most of that decade wondering if Lee Harvey Oswald really did act alone, or was their government not all they thought it was.

Did we go to the moon? Yes. Could they have faked it? Yes. Would they have? Maybe.

I know there are a few Star Trek fans on here so just thought this might be of interest. There is a new ST film coming out. Actually there are two.

One will have the current cast and will follow on with the Abram franchise.

While the other is an original idea that will be directed by Quentin Tarantino.

As I understand it, the Abrams one has been cancelled due to poor reception of the previous three.

The Tarantino one is still in development, honestly can't see it happening myself. Would be too big a departure from what ST is, imagine all those 'motherfuckers' wouldn't go down very well.

They seem to be focusing on the TV stuff atm anyway, Picard, Lower Decks, Section 31 and a another series all in development

Side note about 'Picard', its going to have 7of9 in it
