What's some of your walking experiences.

So far had to drain toenails and burst blisters. Then dressings/anti bacteria cream and lots of codeine. Although the codeine was more for a swollen knee.

Piskie and Comm must be able to tell a few tales?

It's where the underneath of your toenails fill with fluid, it will remain painful until you release the pressure.

One way of doing it if the nail is starting to lift, is to try and cut it short beyond the point you will normally do. This releases the fluid but then you have to use anti bacterial and dressing to avoid infection.

It's not a holiday as such, was never meant to be. I lost a friend recently, and there was a few things i set myself to do - the whole intention was to explore not just here but surrounding areas, with perhaps a longer stay in the future. One of the main aims was to see how i coped with the public transport network, including phoning for taxi's, so enhancing my language skills, which can only really be done these days outside the main tourist areas, otherwise every fooker wants to practice their English! So a lot of the time, i end up speaking in Italian and them English.

A quicker way, that also saves the nail, is to drill through it to relieve the pressure. It's instant relief.

You can do it with a hot paper clip.

I was in Italy on business a few years back, after spending a few days down in Milan and Sassuolo. Them places were easy enough to get around (apart from tolls every 200 yards around Milan) but when I went up to Brescia I stopped at a restaurant on the way back for some dinner and I had no chance, ended up with this massive steak hanging off a hook that was quite clearly for more than one person.

I didn't want to drive mate, done enough of that shhite in the UK over the years. So it was either trains or buses, and taxi's where other public transport couldn't reach within my times. Not done Milan, but was on a few trains where that was final destination.

As above, best advice is decent shoes. If you're walking loads in hot dry countries, then a pair of light trail shoes / trainers are best.

You see loads homeboys who think they can strike out on a 15 mile walk in flip flops.

Every year since I was about 15 after the first month or so of the football season my big toe nails are both black and ****ed. Over the course of the next few months they start to fall off and by the end of the season they have just about come off. They then re-grow nice and normally over the summer only for the process to be repeated. I've tried the drilling thing to relieve pressure, I've tried just ripping them off when they start to lift (I once booted the bottom shelf on a book case when the nail was about 75% off to just rip it off in one, wouldn't recommend) and I've tried the softly softly approach.

My recommendation would be to just soak them in warm water, I know a few guys who regularly file their feet after games to keep them in check but I always found a long soak worked best.
