Well at least with an Irish guy, winning the first Open to be held in Ireland for years... no American won. Shane Lowery seems a decent bloke... Fleetwood missed too many putts and did not drive well enough. Good links course as well
I've played 6 rounds on 2 links courses in my life! and effectively played 6 different golf courses in those rounds!! Conditions make such a difference to a course on Links more than anything
Lowry played one of the best rounds I have ever seen given the difficulty of the course and the weather they all endured...but the pressure he must have been under going for his first major was remarkable. Well played Lowry, was a pleasure to watch
I guess I am different... for several years about the only golf I played was links, Dunstanborough and occasionally Goswick.... Whenever the wind dropped and it was not raining there was a general rush to the course to post a score... Wind make scsuch a difference
Goswick......now there is a proper golf course. first time I played there nearly destroyed my game, second time much better..love the place. Another couple of favourites I have is Southerness near Dumfries and Silloth in Cumbira...great courses.
I've watched a tournament over the past couple of days, LPGA called volunteers of America or something, not sure what the craic was but they all seemed to be playing for their cards for next season so it was quite dramatic. Anyway the winner Cheyenne Knight looks a canny prospect nice style about her and she held her nerve well.
Think you might be disappointed mate she's not ugly but as with all female golfers she's no stunner either.
