The great thing with shirts from a few years back, is that the team doesn’t wear them anymore squire.

Those anger management classes were a good investment for Wor Jonjo ...
... obviously in the same class as Barton with Professor Gascoigne <laugh>

    • Footballers' 3am fracas took place after pub crawl in Morpeth, Northumberland
    • At 1pm the stars joined team on flight to China where they lost first game 4-0

Great to see the lads taking pre-season seriously, all Ashley's fault though ...

Let’s be honest lads, you’re in a takeaway and some lad starts, you go back at them.

Little fannies make their mouths go as they think because they are footballers they won’t respond.

I have no issue whatsoever with them going back at them, I’ve seen it first hand little ****ers trying to look like billy big spuds.

    They are still people.

Agree with you, to a point, Nads, but the footy players are the ones in the public eye and getting called is all part of that, l'm afraid. Also, if someone calls me a **** l couldn't care less, but if they punch me on the schnozz they get two back plus a kick in the bollocks in case they have a knife. Footy players shouldn't retaliate to verbals; violence is a different matter...

Not the point really, this is hours before they're due on a plane for a pre-season tournament and a few weeks until the PL season starts.

Shelvey was a bit player under Benitez, you'd think he'd put everything into having another chance.

This was his big statement a few days ago ....

I’ve always carried on doing the right things, and that’s what I’ll continue to do

How can you make a film about a ‘firm’ that literally is about as active or feared as Garfield.

    Stop the madness!

I have to agree with this. These are footballers with a bit of a profile. Not some randoms on the street. As tough as it is, they need to hold themselves to a higher standard. Everyone is human and we all make mistakes. I’d have wanted to kung fu kick the wasters. That being said, this does then no favours going forward under a new manager. Be intrigued to see how Bruce handles this. His man management skills are definitely superior to Rafas so it should be interesting.

Being a professional footballer with a premier league club brings with it some very rich rewards.
BUT, there is a price to pay.
You also become a public figure and like all public figures some people will assume that they have a right to insult you.
This MAY be acceptable while you are on the field of play but the odd moron will take it further into social occasions.
This is when the price has to be paid.

If they don't like this situation there is a very easy answer, stop being a professional footballer.

What they should have done was to walk away, keeping their collective mouths tightly closed.
Hard no doubt, but made easier if you think of £70K a week.

I think it's even simpler than you both describe tbh. Everyone involved were basically thick people the worse for drink at 3am.

Exactly the same thing happens night after night all over the country, being a football player isn't the critical element imo. In fact, in my experience, being well known usually means you recieve a fair amount of leeway.

People like Chubby Brown and other deliberately offensive comedians, as an example, aren't abused or attacked in the street. But, there's a major difference with some modern football players who deliberately flaunt their obscene, and in this case, undeserved wealth in peoples faces.

Let's be blunt, Shelvey is a shyte human being and a leech on the game, this proves it yet again. He's always bleating on about being a dedicated pro, and reformed character, but here he is disrespecting the club and the supporters.

And, even worse, reinforcing the outsiders view of the NE and the drinking culture. At a time when civilised people, with the wealth to be able to buy the club, are considering their decision it's the last thing you lot need.

No offence to you lads but it's already bad enough with all the various protests, death wishes, stalking, etc from the more visible of your supporters.

I keep being told, on here, that there's no reason why the mega-rich won't be attracted to what the NE has to offer ...
... sadly, for both clubs, this is often how outsiders see us and its not pretty.

Absolutely - you start something then don't get your knickers in a twist if the person you start on has a go back! Bit like a woman hitting a bloke not expecting to get hit back - I have (and would again) hit a woman that hit me first for no reason - you start something be prepared to finish it instead of running away screaming like a child!

I wouldn’t hit a woman like. I’ve launched one across a room like, won’t deny that. Couldn’t actually hit one though, my grandad would crawl out of his grave and beat the **** outta me.
