Clever but that’s not how it works, it’s figured out on the value of the sale. These contracts are not as flimsy as you may think, otherwise Arsenal could just buy a kid from Palace for £60m and get Zaha for free as part of the transfer. It was a big part of the AWB deal, they wanted the Zaha clause removed, it’s air tight.
Yep did wonder if there would be a clause along those lines. It makes sense really. There’s no way we’re paying £70m for Zaha, but I can understand why Palace want that amount. The player had told them he wants out, so hopefully it will force Palace’s hand into accepting some of our deadwood along with a cash deal.
If it's also 20% sell-on fee of player value included in swap deals too then we're quids in if we can do it because 20% of the value of Elneny and Jenkinson is £0m.
Palace probably agree with those valuations like the rest of us do so I’d imagine it doesn’t help anybody.
