You get to vote in the EU elections. Tell me, how many times have you voted in the House of Lords election?

I have stood back recently been thinking a bit about this. Oi, stop laughing at the back, we gasheads can think by ourselves you know <grr><laugh>

I am beginning to give up on Brexit.

The Tories have fukked up the referendum result to leave, with or without a deal. They kicked the can down the road wasting 3 years. They have shown how inept they are. The rest of parliament have contributed to the farce too by blocking everything. So many MP's going against their constituents votes for their own corrupt agenda. For me, all this combined I feel this will mean Brexit won't ever happen. And to be honest, I am no longer sure I want Brexit to happen now anyway. I just cannot trust our politicians to actually run the country without outside help from the EU. Our politicians are a shambles and the system they run by are so out of date and. Then you got Hunt or Boris as our next PM?? We are a laughing stock around the world. I am beginning to think we should revoke article 50 now and say sorry to the EU and then hide under a rock for the next 10 years because we don't have anyone worthy enough to actually lead us out of the ****hole that we are in due to the governments **** way of handling the who situation.

However, the only thing that is slightly keeping me just in favour of still leaving is that word democracy. Parliament voted to let the people decide by a referendum on leaving the EU or not. The official leaflet that we all received said its a once in a generation decision and that the government will implement that decision. Brexit won. Then a GE took place and over 80% of the votes were for parties that said on their manifesto that they will implement the referendum outcome. Now probably 60-70% of politicians are against Brexit. They are seeking another referendum claiming its democratic to have another but I say it is undemocratic as they haven't implemented the outcome of the first referendum yet. These politicians have turned their backs on their constituents and have done their best to delay delay and delay. Even May - a remainer - hired **** negotiators to deal with Brexit with the EU negotiators. But for democracy sake and to put our politicians in their place and to shove 2 fingers up at the EU who have been less than helpful in the negotiations (which was always going to be the case), I want Brexit to happen.

I am 52% still in favour for Brexit and 48% in favour to remain now.

I don’t know if this is banter or if you just like having a pop at me RP.
I’ve said on numerous occasions and on numerous posts I think we HAVE to go through with Brexit. Yes I voted Remain and lost. I still think it is more of a risk than I have appetite for - but others don’t.
When I point out that Boris won’t be able to deliver a ‘hard’ Brexit on October 31st, it’s a PREDICTION, not an expression of desire. I think we will need to have a GE first to end the stalemate. That’s my genuine prediction.
Yes, I don’t like Brexit but 52% of the UK population want it, so let’s give it to them. This ‘limbo’ period is more destructive to our economy than a ‘hard’ Brexit and more than anything I want an end to it.
Those tossers on the EU gravy train are just politicians doing what they do. I detest them all, whether spending money on cocktail-fuelled jollies abroad or claiming expenses for duck houses, or second homes - they are all the same to me.
    ****ers the lot of them.

In short; I want Brexit over with ASAP so I can resume my life. (I’m sure I’ve said that before too.....)

Yes I want to remain in the EU (I didn't at the time of the vote by the way).
Yes I believe in democracy. In fact studies suggest remain would be the preferred option now, so how is that against democracy?

Tell me where on the sheet it said that 52% voted for no deal? Because I didn't. And my dad (who voted leave) also didn't vote for no deal.

Don't get me wrong, people voted to leave. But people did not vote to leave under any circumstance. And that's where we have the problem. It was a stupidly worded question because leave could mean a million different things (as could remain to be fair). But we've been through this a million times, it's why it's such a colossal **** up.

In a similar vein, did all of the 48% who wanted to remain vote to go all in on Schengen and the Euro? Of course they didn't. It's something which can't be boiled down to a single yes or no question.

The country did the right thing in trying to leave. That's what people voted for. It's now looking like a colossal **** up. The big problem is the leavers now putting their fingers in their ears and pretending this is what they voted for, when in many cases it absolutely isn't.

Rob I’m not being funny but you’re dancing on the head of a pin , we were well aware we didn’t know the terms of leaving , that’s missing the point, we voted out in principle , knowing it could mean many different things and accepted that.

We trusted our politicians to attempt to get a deal that could pass through Parliament or if not leave without a deal. We were well aware it could boil down to leaving without a deal.
I still believe part of the problem is still the EU doesn’t think we are serious about leaving without a deal, but what do i know,
The other part of the problem is too many MPs , despite what they say, are happy to ignore the will of the people, believing we aren’t able to understand the issue.

    We have to leave now.
If we remain (through the back door) there will be protests and unrest until it gets back on the table again. It will never settle down again - the Eurocrats know that too - from their angle they would be mad to let us stay - even if we changed our minds.
Best get it over with. Like waiting for your execution.
    Let’s do it.

If Boris fails to get us out I’m slowly coming to the conclusion there will be a GE and RR may well be right , The Brexit Party May well win. Now there’s a scary thought!

No we didn't! Not necessarily. It just isn't true for everybody. People voted for different reasons, myself included. Please don't tell me that myself and my family voted for something accepting all eventualities because it isn't true, and it won't be true for others.

Let's spin it. Let's say remain won by a slim margin and suddenly they're trying to go all in on Schengen, the EU Army, us taking up the Euro. You'd be complaining and quite rightly too, because there's no way that every remain voter wanted that. Well this is the exact same thing.

I'm a remainer. If there was a vote tomorrow, I would vote remain, but I don't want a 'full-on' remain (Euro, EU army, etc). Now how is that different to a voter who wants to leave but doesn't want no deal? I would vote remain but it doesn't mean that I want every possible type of remain.

And that's why we're so ****ed. It's too complex a question for just a yes or no. And now everybody is going to be pissed right off no matter what happens.

Then you aren’t as bright as you claim to be , there were no terms available because they hadn’t been agreed , or even discussed , so obviously no one knew them , people are brighter than you give them credit and get very annoyed when others claim we didn’t know what we were voting for.

If you don’t want a full on remain , then given a chance don’t vote remain because that’s the way it’s going and you won’t get to vote on it, and before you say we don’t know that for sure , it will happen , as my mum used to say, as sure as eggs are eggs.

If remain won I wouldn’t complain if it went the way you say , I’m well aware it’s going that way that’s one of, if not the main reason I voted to leave.

If you voted remain based purely on the way things are now then you are naive, as would you be if you voted leave on the same assumption, things change you have weigh up what each option meant in the future.

We joined in the early 70’s , what we joined compared to what we are part of now is miles apart , do you honestly think things will stay the same for the next 45 years or so, obviously they won’t.

The rest of the EU , headed by France and Germany see it as project to gain ever closer union. We are the main nation trying to block it, but we are fighting a losing battle and if we leave it will either happen even quicker or it will all blow up in their faces, for their sake , and ours, I hope it’s the former.

I don’t know many Brexiteers personally but those I DO know include a very well known politician who was in May’s cabinet (it won’t take Google’s long to work out who that is!).
He told me back in Spring not to worry because there would be a ‘good’ deal. My Brexiteer drinking buddies declared that the EU would be desperate for a deal with us and they would be eating out of our hands to sell us their Bosch, BMW and Renault products. No-deal was unthinkable at that time - at the highest level.
Only 6 months later we face the very real prospect of ‘no deal’.
To be fair to them, only one admitted from the very start that he voted Brexit as a ‘protest’ and never intended it to happen. All the rest see ‘no deal’ as better than Remain - but they still didn’t expect it (still don’t).
I personally think that ‘no deal’ MUST be an option. I don’t agree with those politicians who are trying to block it (although I empathise with their reasons for doing so).
That’s why, even as a Remainer, I have to say that we MUST Brexit ASAP and be prepared for a ‘no deal’.
I don’t like it - we will be cutting off our supply chain - and there are ABSOLUTELY NO guarantees of deals outside the EU.
We are also being led by the most incompetent bunch of utter bastards that I can ever remember in my 52 years on this earth, who I wouldn’t trust to get me a decent deal on a pizza, let alone my country’s future.
However, we are playing chicken with the EU and we have to be prepared to go ALL the way.

I don't think many suggested that their vote was for a deal to come out either.....it was a simple Stay in the EU or Leave......and as far as studies go, now backing remain....that's as bad as all the polls at the time...and we know how accurate they turned out..
There were no deals for remain...it was just to carry on as we were........think ya clutching at straws now Rob.
If we were to remain now, against the will of the peoples vote....who in there right mind would ever vote again? I for one wouldn't....what would be the point?!

You refer to the 52% of your fellow countrymen who voted Leave as 'them'.

If you read Barniers comments even now he doesn’t think we are serious about no deal , until they believe we mean it they won’t offer us anything, I except they may not even if they believe we are serious, and that’s a chance we have to take, but what is absolutely certain is until they believe we mean it they won’t budge an inch.
