Is anyone prepared to give him a chance when he takes over? Or are we talking Kinnear-level bizarre appointment?
I'd give any Manager including SB a chance. However unlike some on here I don't have the benefit of a magical crystal ball to see into the future. Neither am I hopeful of relegation, in the vain hope of Ashley buggering off - I find that a bit naive.
Agree. But even a blind man can see this is a step backwards for the Club and not a step forward and that can’t be ignored.
I fully expected it... its cash in time ... then we rebuild and the moment the players stock rises he does it again. He runs it like a shop its not rocket science . Hence the term We will sell our best players and get relegated.
I agree and it may well turn out to be a backward step. But, as Rafa was held in such high esteem, his replacement was always going to be seen that way. I'm pragmatic about the whole affair and will wait and see what happens. All I know is that we need a manager and the sooner the better, otherwise, we could end up struggling like some fans want.
I wouldn't mind bruce. Hes a fan of the club and I dont think hes a terrible manager. Didnt he get that hull side promoted with like zero funds ? I'll give him a shot.
His records good, it's been said a plenty that he has done well. Lots on here are in full doom and gloom mode, nothing can be done. Anyone who's supported Newcastle for longer than a year has seen a Toon fan implosion, that's why everyone in England, including the board, completely ignores it. I'll support the new manager 100%, but I thought Rafa was extremely mediocre and at times unprofessional so I'm a massive minority.
So say he does well... and we finish 10th for example. What do you expect to happen next? Push on and improve? Or cash in on a few players and start again? If you get lucky once or twice... eventually it will catch up with you and we will get relegated. So my main problem here is... what incentive have we to stay up? Nothing will ever change.
That's the plan. For sure. Just enough and no more. He'll take a risk on us going down. That's what he is. A wide boy chancer. He gets off on it. Why sell a business that generates lots of money for minimal outlay? Unless you can find a mug who will pay top dollar. People have made him reasonable offers and he's not interested. Face the facts people. We are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Steve Bruce is as good as it gets at the moment! Horrible, but true. Nobody should be surprised. This man has form. He holds a grudge big-time! He enjoys playing this game. And there's nothing we can do except suck it up or give up all together and move on.!
Bruce confirmed Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new head coach. He's signed an initial three year contract and is joined by coaches Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, with the trio travelling to China to take charge of the club's second Asian Trophy tie.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48953813 Newcastle United have appointed Steve Bruce as their head coach on a three-year contract. Former Sunderland manager Bruce, 58, resigned as Sheffield Wednesday boss on Monday following talks with the Magpies at the weekend. Newcastle have been without a manager since Rafael Benitez left when his contract expired in June, saying the club "did not share his vision".
