The crime writer Andrea Camilleri best-known for his detective books starring inspector Salvo Montalbano based in the fictional Sicilian town of Vigàta has died. There is a good article on the Beeb website about him and the influence that his books have had on Sicily. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-48681253
My wife loves the TV version... I prefer Donna Leon and the Brunetti Venice novels. Read them all.. . We actually revisited some of the story settings last time we were there..
Mrs Fez will be distraught. We both enjoy the tv series immensely. I see that there are three Montalbano books yet to be translated. We're off to Italy for another holiday this summer, Sicily will be another time probably on a cruise with Sardinia and Corsica. Still, 93 was a good innings. I am sure we'll find a decent bottle of red to open tonight.
