Tbh I thought they'd given the superover to the wrong bowler. I thought Wokes should have been the man but fair play to Archer...
Me and my mates have been popping over to Hove for the past few years and watched Archer and thought he was just a bang average county level player. Amazing how things can change in a couple of years!
The entire NZ camp has been a class act in the last 24 hours. A lesson in losing with dignity and grace that many could learn from. I might have to rethink my comments based on one stupid bitch of a stepmother from Auckland
Especially after they were cheated out of a victory. Can you imagine the stooshy if such a blatant mistake was made against England? It would make the "hand of God" beelfest look like a small blip.
Totally different sports and you cant compare 1 run to a goal. Some odi over 700 runs are scored and some football games end 0-0 Cant compare the 2 at all
You can compare one run in 102 overs to an umpire not calling a wide or a referee deciding against a free kick.
Or England could have won on Boundaries scored, without the need for a super over. Or NZ could have won because England were all out. Archer’s first ball didn’t look wide to me. Loads of stuff could have gone either way. England are World Champions, nothing else matters. Kane Williamson took it really well in the post match interview though. Proper gent.
NZ as a sporting nation are phenomenal. Population of less than 5 million and they are world class at rugby union, cricket, rugby league and netball. I'm sure there are other team sports that I've overlooked. They also play with the right attitude. I'm delighted England won but also a little gutted that it was NZ who were on the end of such a cruel defeat.
New Zeland didn't mention it though , until they were asked . Sky spotted it I think . Oh yes , and an Aussie ex umpire .
And that's the point. NZ didn't throw a strop. England would have. Effigies of umpires would be hanging off every lamp post in England.
