I think everyone has forgotten him... Tbf Muto makes Joselu look good. Joselu is ****, but I think that's exactly what everyone expected when we bought a Stoke reserve for peanuts. Had OK starts to both seasons and scored some goals then went **** in both seasons, still he'll be a more fondly remembered striker here than Michael Owen...
Personally think if he had been given time (Muto not Joselu this is about) he would have contributed more. Better than James anyway, isn't he Chaos?
Dunno Muto's played in pretty slack leagues, his international record (3 goals in 29) is wretched, as was his 1 in 17 with us. Whenever I saw him this season he looked dire.... when is the point where you run out of second chances? When Joselu puts your goal scoring record to shame, you really can't be that great...
I'm not sorry to see him go because at the end of the day your strikers need to score goals but he always tried hard, was able to bring others into the game and seemed to be a good sort to have around the dressing room. I can't see that Muto is going to be of any use at all from what I have seen so far.
Think Joselu would have worked much better in an old fashioned 2 up top set up. He always got a good number of knock downs, headers etc, rather than on his own - might have been interesting to see how he would have played with someone like Gayle feeding off him
This was the case when Perez benefited massively from having Rondon alongside him, rather than having to lead the line himself. Joselu's scoring record was dire, but he could have been of use as an assisting player. Muto on the other hand I don't see us getting any benefit from, runs around like a headless chicken, and can't pass, shoot or tackle.
I'm glad he's gone regardless of our situation, he's ****e. Don't get me wrong I respected the lad as he always gave 100% but that doesn't make him a good footballer. I still think fans need to give Muto more time. Rafa wanted him, and he had a disjointed first season with injury and the Asia Cup. I'm not convinced as yet but way too early to be writing someone off. There have been signs, particularly at Old Trafford. He won't score you bundles of goals but I think he could be useful in tandem with a goalscorer. Unless we play as we did last year, I expect he will be back up to Almiron. Mind Bruce is coming in so we will be 44 ****ing 2
So, no Rondon, no Joselu....looks like we might be playing with the ball on the floor this season, as we have no players with aerial ability at the top end of the pitch. Front 3 of Almiron, Muto, Murphy (or Atsu, Aarons) doesn't exactly have much physical presence.
Hopefully this Brazilian geezer works out. We just won't get far enough up the pitch with any kind of regularity to bother anyone. Desperately need a proper CF
