Steve Bruce is understood to have resigned as Sheffield Wednesday manager this morning, along with assistants Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence. All three put resignations in writing. Newcastle have made an offer of compensation to Sheffield Wed - but it is still to be accepted.
Excellent news. Plus, I am pretty neutral on NUFC so I can go back to wishing Bruce well - which is nice.
That'll be three clubs in a row managed by Steve Bruce that haven't signed Alex Bruce. Charon must be fuming!
yawn - probably the worst player ever to put on a Hull City shirt and yet Brucie had him playing in the Prem whilst farming Maguire out to Wigan - Junior has started 11 league games in almost 4 years since we got rid - only ever wanted by Wigan and Kilmarnock as a bench sitter and to make up the numbers - Brucie gave his son his premier league debut, his cup final, his European appearance and even managed to save him when others got booted out when he got us relegated - worst case of nepotism in sport by a racing mile - typical of Brucie to **** off just before the season starts - I felt sorry for Villa when he went there, I was right he ****ed them right up - and I feel sorry for Newcastle because he'll do the same to them -just a pity he wasn't at Wednesday long enough to **** them up - they dodged a bullet
There’s far worse players that have pulled on a Hull City shirt than Alex Bruce. Most Villa fans acknowledge Bruce laid the foundations for them getting promoted.
you couldn't make that up, but you just did - most Villa fans think he's an absolute dinosaur - they're delighted he was pushed and delighted that the got a new manager who turned the mess around and got them promoted - they were going backwards under Bruce, we were even above them in the table Team P W D L F A GD Pts 1 Leeds 28 16 6 6 47 30 17 54 2 Norwich 28 15 8 5 52 36 16 53 3 Sheff Utd 28 15 5 8 46 29 17 50 4 West Brom 27 13 8 6 55 35 20 47 5 Middlesbrough 28 12 11 5 31 20 11 47 6 Derby 28 13 7 8 40 35 5 46 7 Bristol City 28 12 8 8 35 29 6 44 8 Hull 28 11 7 10 41 35 6 40 9 Swansea 28 11 7 10 37 32 5 40 10 Blackburn 28 10 10 8 37 41 -4 40 11 Birmingham 28 9 12 7 40 33 7 39 12 Nottm Forest 28 9 12 7 39 32 7 39 13 Aston Villa 28 9 12 7 51 45 6 39 14 QPR 28 11 6 11 34 39 -5 39 15 Stoke 28 9 11 8 33 35 -2 38 16 Sheff Wed 28 9 8 11 33 45 -12 35 17 Brentford 28 8 10 10 43 39 4 34 18 Preston 28 8 9 11 43 45 -2 33 19 Millwall 28 7 8 13 34 44 -10 29 20 Wigan 28 8 5 15 28 41 -13 29 21 Rotherham 28 5 10 13 27 46 -19 25 22 Reading 28 5 8 15 31 43 -12 23 23 Bolton 27 5 7 15 18 40 -22 22 24 Ipswich 28 3 9 16 22 48 -26 18 here's the table after we drew 2 2 with them - they were in a right mess
Villa were 12th when they sacked Bruce, we were 21st, that 2-2 draw was 3 1/2 months after he was sacked (they beat us 3-1 when he was still there).
He'd be a better appointment for Newcastle than Bruce, he's already popular up there, did a good job last time and has far more chance of still being there at Christmas than Brucey does (and it would have saved them £4m).
As much as I like Brucey I think he's past his sell by date now. Newcastle are making a mistake, imo.
Tis a strange one Can’t blame brucey for taking it tho it’s the job he’s always wanted. Good luck to him I hope he does well Crying shame he couldn’t stay with us
Bang on that Chazz - he'd walk there barefoot over broken glass for that job, I hope the locals give him a chance and not get straight into him for his S'land links.
Bruce confirmed as Newcastle Head Coach. https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/steve-bruce-appointed-as-newcastle-united-head-coach/
Charon still crying about the Bruce family is ****ing hilarious You're like a ****ing Arsenal fan with all that bitterness.
