That’s an abysmal call to not give out. Don’t agree with the umpire’s call thing. Boult very unlucky.
The annoying thing is, they’re saying England are being lucky. NZ also rode their luck in the early overs, but luck was never mentioned.
The Umpire’s Call rule is to allow for a degree of inaccuracy in the ball tracker system. It’s not guaranteed to be 100% correct. If it was they could just do away with umpires making LBW decisions. Most crucially though, I want England to win.
I think if it’s inconclusive then it’s fine to say not out. To have two identical balls and one ends up out and another not can’t be right. Part of the skill of the game is choosing when to use the appeal. Their opener used his appeal brilliantly when it looked 100% out.
Yeah. Not much consolation when you get a ball like Boult’s first. Should have mentioned I’ve backed him for 2+ wickets.
