In today's batshittery from The Nigel Farage Ego Project, we have Robert Rowland stating that once we leave the EU the Royal Navy should be tasked with sinking any EU fishing vessels entering a 200 mile exclusion zone around the UK Here's a short list of issues with this complete insanity i.) That's a declaration of war ii.) Naval vessels sinking civilian vessels is a war crime iii.) The Royal Navy currently consists of approximately seven ships, including the £3bn aircraft carrier that keeps springing leaks and HMS Victory, so the fleet would be stretched very thin by using them to harass Norwegian fishermen iv.) The cost of sending out the Navy on sorties would rapidly exhaust the military budget v.) Considering both Paris and Amsterdam would fall within the 200 mile exclusion zone around the UK, that would mean that the last thing anyone fishing in the Seine or the Amstel would see is a couple of Royal Navy minesweepers bearing down on them
Too much like hard work. Just threaten to leave NATO, as Iceland did during the "cod wars" . I assume the UK is far more important to the USA in military terms than Iceland (not demeaning them nor the importance of the sonar arrays in their waters) , and with Trump on the warpath with mainland Euro nations not paying their NATO dues ...
