Our team, and captain in particular, need to make sure the referee knows if Watmore is being targeted this season. What happened at Wycombe was an absolute disgrace.
Did anyone else try and follow the game on the new Matchday Live page https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2019/july/south-shields/matchday-live-v-south-shields It wasn't working for most of the first half and now I've got no idea how to review the game. There is an arrow to go right to the top or down to the bottom of the page but I can't seem to scroll down and read through it. - is it just me? <edit> Ah - it doesn't show the scroll bar in Google Chrome. That explains it.
Let's be real that wasn't a lay off from Kimpioka Robson just nipped in there first, looked like Kimpi had a good game though. Lovely feet from Watmore and he showed a composure that maybe he didn't used to have.
I know its only a friendly but its slightly concerning when neither hardly touch the ball against South sheilds. Im glad to see Ethan grab the opportunity with both hands. Its games like that that players should want to impress and show what they can do.
Yeah there's been hype building up around Robson and it sounds like he's going to live up to it, seems a real prospect.
Much prefer to see our academy players given a chance. Ethan Robson mom, but where was Bali Mumba, he has heaps of potential and was, along with Maja, the star of the show early doors last season , yet wasn't called on again and was not involved last night. My worry is that JR will revert to "experience" playing safe rather than take a chance on youth, for me last season was lost in the respect, even though we went very close to winning promotion, the general quality of performance was pedestrian in the main.
Honeyman and Gooch are both are struggling atm, but we have seen what they can bring to the team, I,ve seen nothing from Grigg, is he even interested ?, this is very worrying considering the investment that was made, to soften the blow of loosing Maja.
The concening thing for me is Honeyman being made captain. Hes going to play every game now when fit. I honestly think hes only our 4th or 5th best CM.
If I remember right he did get dropped quite a bit last season, I don't think Ross feels he has to play him.
Did he, i can't really remember to he honest. I know he missed some games when he was injured. Ideally a Captain should be one of the first names on the teamsheet and play week in week out, it seems abit pointless otherwise. Id have given the armband to Mcgloughlan or ONien.
I think he did drop him but it could have been injuries. I remember thinking it was interesting that he'd dropped his captain at any rate whether I was right or not. Yeah O'Nien would have been a good choice, can't see him not playing and he's just one of those characters that people turn to.
I get your point mate, but time will tell whether he keeps the job, or his place, there is no guarantee in football. He along with Maja were getting stick from some fans at the start of last season, both responded positively and played their part in a good start to the season. The atmosphere around the club, and within the team, is more positive now than it has been for years, and maybe JR is taking this into account, and leaving well alone.
