People tend to be a bit belligerent on forums, but have you ever felt compelled to to do a 180? what was the topic? who did it? do you still hold that view?
I tend to comment on things I have an interest in or view on so in general terms no. Though I must have read an article which has changed my opinion in some topics over the years as it would be naive to always believe yourself to be right on every topic, these were usually cases where I had little knowledge on the subject in the first place. I can't recall what they were as we seem to talk about the same **** everyday here.
Interesting question. Internet forums do seem to be the go to place to have your prejudices confirmed. On horse racing matters I have had my opinion changed by a well articulated point of view. But not my overall world view.
yes I used to think that 2 planes could only knock down 2 buildings but was convinced otherwise by Dev, its mere coincidence that there was only 2 planes and I realise that now. thanks dev
I have changed my mind on Paul Telfer. Thought he was **** until reading a great thread on the old 606 detailing why he was important to the team, bringing the best out of Naka etc. The guy wrote alot of sense majority of the time so next game I watched Telfers running off the ball, positioning etc & I agreed that he did perform a good job for the club.
yes i used to think the brits were an occupying force but now i can see they were only going by nature the biggest will grab what they can
The internet is an invaluable resource in many ways, but chat forums are one of the biggest wastes of time and energy ever invented. Technical forums though can be really useful. Having any kind of adult debate on the internet is rare. Anonymity is a great disguise for venting anger and internal issues that people have and that is mostly what you see. Occasionally it is amusing, but mostly just people prentending to be someone else and spouting rubbish. Very tedious and sad. If you take it as something you spend a short while on when you are bored and have nothing better to do and then take it as a free-for-all of wummery then fine. That's really what the internet has turned into and you have to take it for what it is to 'enjoy' it, in very small doses. If you want adult debate of any sort - real people are the answer.
I changed my mind about The Sundays. I used to think they were ****e until a wise man showed me the error of my ways.
as long as everyone agrees with what i say, i dont see a problem. now returning to the real world, on the old 606 a Celtic poster ( sorry, i cant remember his/her name ) did sway me once on the possibility of ref bias. we had a pretty cool chat but it ended up a score draw. does this count?
ah, you see thats just it. a Rangers fan came on with countless examples of how his team had been robbed. it was all very confusing to be honest.
Every team has its shouts of penalties turned down, wrong offside decisions etc - the above example is quite different.
disgraceful, i hope he got a 3 match ban for that! no really though, i saw my man Les ferdinand get sent off at Anfield when he went for a shot at goal a millisecond after the whisle had blown. im not comparing like for like here, your ref obviuosly had issues, i guess the ref at Anfield just didnt like Les.
Yes.I always thought Medro was a **** but after reading more of his posts I realised I was wrong. He's a proper ****
I changed my mind about the race horse trainer Nicky Henderson - I used to think he was just a cheat but after what someone told me on here I realise he's a cheat with the manners of a ******ed bat.
