..and there was me hoping he would be a good ball-playing centre-back. ....apparently not. We definitely don't need him in the midfield.

...........................................McMuffin'
McLaughin/McLovin'.....Dobson? + (Bald /Oz /Flan)........Hume/ Oviedo?

DM Any 1 of: Leadbitter...or Robson?
CM Any 1 or 2 of: Embleton, O'Nien, Power, McGeouch
AM Any 1 or 2 of: McGeady, Maguire, Honeyman, Gooch

Two up top.

Some midfielders must be on their way out.
Grant won't do a full season but can drop in as a sub to calm things down a bit. Robson can play the DM role and it tall to give us much needed height
I think Power looks surplus, as does McGeough, if we are to keep Embleton
Honeyman should not be Captain, as he ain't guaranteed a game

**** knows.

It would mate, but both players could also be caught out of position leaving no protection for the back 4.
Id prefer to play a holding midfielder that sits infront of the defence to allow ONien the freedom to get forward as much as possible.

Im not sure how Ethan Robsons going to fit in our team because he's also similar to ONien and Dobson, and Jack has already said Ethan is a big part of his first team plans. Throw Power and Honeyman in the mix aswell and i am totally bamboozled in trying to work out what Jacks trying to create for next season?

Maybe Dobbo is that holding midfielder and the plan is to play Luke and say Ethan ahead of him, leaving McGeough and Power etc as backup. No doubt there's too many midfielders but something like that might be a decent lineup with more pace and physicality than we usually muster.

Yes true ive been shouting for more physical presence all year so i suppose its not a bad thing signing Dobson.
I really hope we can sell Honeyman now because id hate to see Embleton not get a chance next season.

I think it'll be be McGeouch and Dobson with Honeyman in front of them (unless we do bring in Marcus Maddison). The others will rotate in and out of that pairing but unless we're being defensive Honeyman will play in a No. 10 role cos he's Ross' preferred option.

Given the fee and respective wages I think you need to stick with Grigg, McGeady, McGeouch, Watmore, etc going forward. Midfield should be fine overall. Keeper is very good. The defence was a bit of a shambles at times, there was some ability there but either Ross needs a better defensive coach or one or two players to be better at sorting it out. That's where one key signing could make a huge difference - even a loan.

He is far too lightweight, had long enough to convince me and hasn't even though he's dropped two levels, same with Gooch.

There's better available. But he was integral to the way we were playing in the first half of last season and Ross likes him. Maguire could play the 10 role but we've not got many others that it would come naturally to.

Not sure how much credit to give this rumour

Ross has said he wants to trim the squad because we had too many senior players competing for positions. He wants to give the youth players a chance.

Correct
We already have loads of midfielders
Plus kids
Probably will have to move some on before we add to the squad

I hope we continue to lowball them, league two clubs don't get to demand the big bucks. Even if this guy was the next Gerrard they'd still get peanuts and I doubt that.
Agree totally - people on twitter complaining at "how far we have fallen" when we are being held to ransom by Walsall - i reply along the lines of "or how much better the club is being run as we're not being held to ransom!"

Yep it's not like it's a vital signing imo so there's no need to pay over the odds. Wait for Walsall to stop salivating at the idea of getting a huge fee, give them time to spend the money mentally and then throw them another modest offer.

The player wants to come, that could well be a factor in our favour.

That effectively puts the trump cards in our hand. Although there’s no talking to some of our idiot fans
