I'm confused by the whole thing tbh.

I've had indications that a takeover is possible but how would Bruce fit in with that?

If this Sheikh is actually involved he's making a real balls up of his public communications.

Staveley ignored the non-disclosure agreement and Ashley publicly humiliated her, as he did with Kenyon ...

... why would this Sheikh be releasing statements via a nobody, doesn't make sense.

I don't get it either but if they are looking to hire a cheap manager now then it has to mean the takeover is off or it's just a waste of money. I sometimes think Ashley does these things for his own amusement, giving people hope while raking it in.

If the club is as profitable as I understand it to be I don't know why he would sell.

Take the laughing stock aside why would any premier club hire Bruce who failed pretty well at Villa and had an average record at his brief time at Sheff Wed???

Don't get me wrong, crack on with it as I need a laughable distraction from our own league 1 issues.

We used to call ours Sheikh Ratlanrol which he found quite funny <laugh>

It's also quite funny, and highly ironic, that Bruce should replace Benitez.

As you'll recall Bruce never missed a chance to have a pop at Sunderland when he left .....

A week after Benitez arrives in China he's warning Arteta and Viera off Newcastle ....
.... now he's openly attacking the club in the media,
“I have had more meetings with the chairman, the president and the general manager this week, than I had in 3 years at Newcastle."

To be fair he has done incredibly well at Sheffield Wed, got them right on the playoff fringes.

But then he always does well in the championship. He’s good for that level.

If they want a Championship manager look no further than Mick Mac. He'll take them down, but then back up. Then down again...

The way it was explained to me is that Ashley has plan A and plan B with no intention of accepting plan C.

A is flogging the club for a profit or break even at worst.

B is clawing back his money season after season.

C is selling at a loss and allowing someone in on the cheap.

Now, here's the bombshell which I was told, in confidence, when he bought the club. The lady who told me has now left the company who were privvy to the information and retired so I feel able to divulge it. Besides other people, with much more credibility than me, are aware and it'll come out eventually.

Ashley is known for bold decisions in business and bought NUFC too quickly. Years of compounded debt, future payments, etc were hidden in the accounts by the previous owners who were little more than con men. Yes, that's all now in the public domain but wasn't when I was told.

But, and this hasn't ever been mentioned to my knowledge, Ashley had a time bomb under his desk at SJP when he first settled into his leather swivel chair.

He thought he now owned the ground but found it was only the stadium.

His plans to engineer a situation where' circumstances' could be blamed for forcing the club out of Toon were shot to pieces. If he could've sold the land to himself he stood to make millions, on the sly, while moving into a cheap new venue whereby he could push the council into helping to fund a shiny new 'Newcastle Arena'. Sites on ex-industrial Tyne Valley land, the Town Moor, etc were looked at. Gateshead Stadium was even mentioned as a possible new project. The council and various other entities would've been coerced into providing permission.

If that's all true it certainly explains a lot including Ashley's bitterness.

Can't believe the crap due diligence he did. I mean, he's a self-made billionaire FFS! Freddie Sheppard certainly saw him coming...

Doesn’t make sense to be fair Smug, Ashley owns the ground, the land it’s on, and huge areas surrounding it. He owns right along the fringes of the stadium, all of the car parks, and the parking and bays on the 2 adjacent streets.

He also owns a large portion of the the former brewery which he coins in rent from as he allowed student digs to be built.

He’s just had planning accepted I believe to build office and residential space (more student housing, the most lucrative investment in the UK for landlords right now), on the land of the car parks adjacent to the Strawberry.

That land was previously owned by Sir John Hall, so unquestionably came as part of the club.

But he doesn't, that's where he ****ed up.

Loads of Mags believe he does and I've had argunents about it on forums for years. Not even my Mag relatives knew and they're clever well connected people.

The stadium is worthless because, if the club ever left, they'd have to pay millions to demolish it and return the cleaned up land to the Freemen of the City.

Now you know that read my previous post again.

He does though mate, he sold a massive chunk of it behind our offices for development not 2 months ago. It was all over the Chronicle. He cast iron does own it, John Hall owned the lot and had plans to extend the stadium out across that way.

It was sold, by Ashley, to a developer who’s building all sorts on it. They are breaking ground this month.

I accidentally bought some Linda McCartney burgers the other week, I wasn’t looking the pictures on the box looked more than decent.

I knew I was in brother when they were cooking, dry as a bone. They tasted like cheap nuts and had the texture of 8 day old African roadkill.

    Just no.

There’s a link in my post about him selling it.

BNP Paribas own the rest, we hire our offices from them, they are also involved in the development.
