Chris Marsden scored a Messi-esque goal against Ipswich one season. Doesn't mean he's as good as Messi.

Even Hoedt had good games. Is he as good as Kompany?

It's one thing to look like a top player, playing for Saints, but Toure did it at the very top level, week in week out. Toure in his prime would eat Lemina alive.

Even Hjobjerg is better than Lemina. No point having 'potential' if you play like sh*t most games.

 

In the last two seasons the midfield have virtually always looked better when Pierre and JWP were in the team (with or without Oriel and Mario as well) and worse when it was just Mario and Oriel as the central pairing.
The midfield was generally piss poor since Mario joined up until his injury last season and that's a fact.

 

That's a smart piece of business tbf. Even if he doesn't work out in the PL they'd probably recoup that and his value is going to grow. Besides all that, he's a good player.

 

It is now the decision promoted teams have in their 1st season.

Spend big in the hope of doing a wolves but risk doing a Fulham. Or not spend much at all and stay up (huddersfield) but risk doing a cardiff.

Personally I would say investing in a team of top championship players puts you in good stead for the long term. Players like Che Adams, Bowen and Konsa would be the way Id go.

 

I think Konsa is a decent player, I just think they are paying crazy money for some of their players.

Tadic isn’t the sort of player to pick up an underperforming side and carry them. He needs good players around him, then he’ll shine. At Ajax, he’ll get that because of their academy. I sort of wish he was doing that with us.
