Steve Bruce is a truly shocking manager but he always gets a job because he stays in favour with the media Look what happened to Villa after they saw sense and booted him out. I thought he was persuasive in the transfer market until I listened to the Niall Quinn podcast on Roker Rapport last week - we landed our targets because Short was paying full transfer fees up front rather than in instalments. Nothing to do with Bruce He's an absolute dinosaur of a manager
WUM? Moi?? I merely act as a counterpoint to the lunacy that is the 'warm glow' thread. Besides, DD's self-publicising this morning has been a tad vomit-inducing...
Can't disagree with this like. There are lot of things about Ashley that **** us off as fans, from a pure business side he has turned us into a self financing club for which he cannot be knocked. He's openly admitted that he can't compete with the big boys and doesn't have the money to go out and spunk £50m, £75m, £100m on a player like Liverpool, Spurs and Man Utd etc. He has also stated he will sell the club if the right person or persons puts the money up and proves themselves to be fit to run the club. I'm not sure what his criteria is here for that, but If there is indeed an offer on the table of the figures that are being bandied about then why is he not taking it? It's clear that his only aim is for us to "survive" in the premier league, sod the cups etc etc. Relegation doesn't pose a risk to him as we are self sufficient in the premier league to the point where we have the means to be equally self sufficient in the championship. Anything above a 17th place finish each year is a bonus for him and proof that you don't need to spend silly money to stay in the league. He's basically gambling on the fact that each season there will be 3 teams ****ter than us and it's worked for the last two. We had a horrendous start to last season, not winning for about 10-11 games but firing a manager costs money generally which he will avoid at all costs. I still think he's a ****, he still owes his parents money for the wedge they lent him to start his very first business off. The lack of news and comms from the club is shocking. The protest suggestions are just stupid, there was a bunch of fans on the steps of SJP when the Rafa announcement came out, about 20 fans in total...half of the ****ers were wearing the new top FFS, just mindless numpties with no clue man. I've purchased very few tickets since Ashley took over and I don't buy the shirts anymore, but that is my own personal choice and I don't spout off about it to people and expect them to follow suit, each to their own I say. If you wanna go then go, if you don't then dont. We all want the same for our club at the end of the day and people will do whatever they want to do that makes them happy and feel like they're doing their bit, regardless of whether it has any effect or not.
Staying away doesn’t harm a club anyway. I never considered staying away under Short as it’s my club, my passion. Even a retail boycott would do no harm, his businesses are national, the sales in Newcastle are a pindrop of it, and frankly, the shop in town is always busy anyway. The very folk that spout **** (and this goes for both of our clubs), are the ones likely doing the harm and chasing away investment. They are just too ****ing stupid and desperate for attention, likes and clicks to see it. I’d love a day when we were fighting each other for CL football, I really would. The potential is there but it’s shine is dimmed by idiots with no clue how the world works spouting ****e. People say we have a geographical disadvantage, that’s only true about the kind of players you don’t want to start with.
NUFC is working out fine for MA for all of those reasons. The question is how to break the log-jam? Very difficult unless someone with more money than him comes along.
I've just had a text from a mate in the security business, the bastard once tricked me into 'helping him out' by doing 2 weeks on the door of the Rex in Whitley Bay. As I was in Mansfield, where I'd been since I was 8, I had no idea it was a phenomenon called 'Glasgow fortnight'! Anyway he's just been asked to provide a dozen blokes for SJP, looks like something major is happening.
He's never needed it before though has he. Let's be honest a handful of supporters have made a few banners and shouted at shops but, despite many opportunities, have never had the nerve to openly approach Ashley. My guess is that 'someone' wants to look around the stadium & facilities without a bunch of tits jumping around shouting Toon Army. My confusion is that if Bruce is being spoken to, which I believe, why would the Sheikh be there as well ...
