Can anyone recommend someone Preferably in East Hull or Town, It's for my 21 year old daughter ( doesn't drive ) We've been looking for a while but most of the ones on the web are outdated. Cheers.
afraid i dont know any. until someone does turn up can i suggest some of the cheap book shops in town might have a decent teach yourself book as a starter. learning some basic chords to strum and changing between them is useful. taking some time to learn some scales and try to pick out tunes is time well spent and i wish id'd tried that much earlier. any old tune thats familiar will do and helps make that process quicker. also look on youtube and then she can see and hear what people suggest. i put acoustic guitar tutorial in and it brought 751000 results which ought to keep her going for a bit.
There was a place on Anlaby Road just passed Ferensway and opposite Europa House. It was above one of the shops. Dont know if they are still there though
theres a book all the greats used and that is.........LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR BY BURT WEEDON..............it sorted clapton, beck and townsend out !!!!!
If she is a complete beginer Dean there,s plenty of online lessons (some good stuff on youtube) that will get her started with the basics ,tuning up, chords, scale patterns etc, basic finger plucking etc, while she finds a tutorfor the more serious stuff.
And once she has learned a few basic chords, she can find stuff to play on: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ You can find the chords and lyrics to almost anything on there.
I'm completely self taught and nowadays theres so much more to help you learn to play. I sat with an Oasis chordbook (easy songs and familiar to most people) and taught myself how to play all of the songs, then moved onto another band. Like some of the guys have mentioned theres literally thousands and thousands of tutorial videos on youtube and www.ultimate-guitar.com really is the daddy! If you really want a tutor I know the guys at Hessle music centre do lessons. I know its not town or East Hull but its a start!

I taught myself too, sites like ultimate-guitar have chord symbols that show you where to put your fingers, it doesn't take long to pick up a few chords.
