The UK ambassador to the USA has accused Trump of being “Inept, insecure and incompetent”.
Trump has responded by stating that he is “Really, really ept, totally secure and has no trouble using the bathroom”. :emoticon-0105-wink: :emoticon-0102-bigsm
I stole this, but it fits.

Plenty of i3's and the odd i8 where I work but i guess those models are not aimed at the US market.

i3's are seen as a bit of an oddity in the States [there a bit f*****g odd here too, tbh] and i8's aren't even made anymore.
To illustrate how far BMW are behind, the rather ageing BEV drivetrain tech of the i3 has been put in the brand new BMW Mini E. It's not exactly raising eyebrows for the right reasons. For a 2019-20 car it ought to have a better range, it has relatively slow charging speed, and its performance is no better than the FFV.version. All because BMW didn't get on with enough development. Back in 2013 they were on par with Nissan and only slightly behind Tesla if you discount all the smart stuff that a Tesla was capable of even back then. Now they are 5-6 years and more behind.

    Brilliant.

I also fall in the surname-for-a-forename category, and I can tell you it is frustrating. Especially back in school.

"Yeah but what's your first name?" etc <laugh>

No idea. I was told they'd stopped making them. Perhaps they have a huge inventory.

Could be . Or perhaps stopped importing to certain countries ?

They don’t seem to have moved with the times though .

What other major manufacturer has though ?

I love the idea of an EV.

However, all I keep thinking about EVs is though that looking at the status of my daughter's iPhone battery most of the time, I hope she stays on a petrol car for a while.

EV batteries and phone batteries are designed differently even though they have similar base materials. EV batteries, even the first designs are proving to last around 20-25 years on prediction tests. Just a month ago, Nissan announced that their earliest batteires are now predicted to out last the car. Tesla batteries again, 25 years before they can go to second life usage.

Basically, don't worry about the batteries. They have an 8 year unconditional guarantee in the first place.
Actually, I thought you were the researcher type of person? Rather than rely on hearsay from people who don't know. I mean, don't take my word for it. Go read up on it.

In order of 'moving with the times' - [Tesla make those times to move with].
Several years ahead - Nissan, Renault, Hyundai, Kia, GM, and we'll add Jaguar, because the iPace is a properly sorted EV and the new XJ is all-EV too.
Then you have these a few years behind in development for various reasons: Daimler [Smart, Mercedes], Audi, VW, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Opel.
Others who seem to be standing still and could even go bust: Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, Mazda, etc.

Toyota have a range of EVs coming out 'sometime' after telling eveyone there's no demand for battery electric cars. Tell that to the people who can't get one for love nor money, for want of trying. BMW CEO said exactly the same last October, and resigned last weekend, while he had until next year to stick around. They've completely screwed the electric lead they once had. Honda are bringing out the cute little Honda E at some point - but when? Ford are still in the complete sh*t, though they have partnerships. Fiat-Chrysler want to merge with anyone who's willing. I've deliberately left out companies like Ferrari or Buggati or Koenigsegg, for example, because they could pop up with new stuff at any time. Rimac - the all-electric hypercar company will probably end up helping these people out.

So those are moving or not moving with the times. The creator of this movement is Tesla, who have also inspired pure EV start-ups like Rivian, Lucid Air, Faraday Future**, Bollinger, Nikola and several others. However, potentially the biggest EV companies are Chinese. BYD [build your dreams] and Nio are among dozens of Chinese car manufacturers. And don't run away with the idea that they are badly made. They've been well reviewed. And their tech is first rate, if rather 'Chinese'. Have a look at this short video of a Nio ES8 with In-Car assistant. Basically Alexa or Siri, but with an extra little speciality. It's Nomi:

**notoriously iffy EV company. Will they, won't they survive? Nice car though.

Anybody here been to Kiev? Am thinking of planning a trip so wondered if anybody has been. Not looking for detailed holiday reviews or anything, just people's impressions of the place.
I've been on various websites, read a few travel blogs and the place seems pretty appealing but you can't beat a first hand opinion.
