Rafa did a solid job, but do you really think he did anything exceptional? I’ve long said I don’t rate him, although admitted he did well getting you up and keeping you there, but don’t you think 3,500 other managers could have done that? I don’t see that you’ve lost a major thing personally, and believe me I’d love to think you have. He’s done nothing of note since Valencia, short of outspending Juve at Napoli to still fall way short. I don’t think Rafa going will hurt you at all, more the loss of certain players may well.
You've usually been in a dogfight with Benitez there until the latter stages. Let's not rewrite history .....
Mate we’ve had lads banned firnithing more than being a wind up on your board. We’re a lot more lenient on here and, as long as nothing breaks rules you won’t be banned
This situation at Newcastle is becoming increasingly bizarre. I'm being told Bruce's odds have plummeted from 40/1 to evens. Now, I'm not au fait with bookies tactics but I don't see how they can make money out of that. If they're not them the only other possibility is that Bruce is actually talking to Ashley and the bookies know. Or am I wrong?
Tiny markets mate, not many bets so a handful of reasonable punts will slice the odds. They mean very little in manager markets untIL they go massively odds on.
If someone’s at massive odds folk will have a wager, odds will shift, that starts whispers, more folk bet. Of all the markets mate it’s the least likely to follow the odds.
Cheers mate, I get it now. I expect the bookies have to act just in case people do actually know something.
Aye, basically. Might take thousands to impact the odds on a match result as there’s so much going in on it, say someone puts £500 on at 40/1 the bookies need to cover that liability, so will slash the odds and usually sneakily lower odds around it to tempt a few chancers in.
11 points above relegation last season and the season before. It's often been a shaky start to the season (by which I mean the entire first half) but by the end of March we've been comfortable both of the last couple of seasons. Like about 10 other teams in the league we've not been mathematically safe until the last 4-5 games but it's much better than it was in the 2-3 years before we went down last time. The only proper dogfight we were in with Benitez... didn't end well for us.
That was a up and attem speech, as good as my old colonel gave, before kicking Argie arse, WELL DONE SIR, right where are these scumbags you want rid of, at your command Col Sid
Rondon was immense for us last season. For the sake of £16m we could have pretty much guaranteed survival next year, perhaps even comfortably (with Rondon, Perez and Almiron having time to gel as they were getting better together in the short space of time they had). Instead we refuse him, sell Perez, will probably sell Longstaff and let the manager go. Ashley is aiming for 17th again. It's all just pathetic.
I'm going to assume you aren't referring to the 5-1 ( which was on Halloween) and ask which Halloween threads. For the record, if we do appoint Bruce I can't see many of our fans objecting to you taking the piss out of him, he's worthy of ridicule.
It is, indeed, the 5-1 to which I refer. More than enough "Bruce is crap" comments to re-paper my living room. I don't think it's coincidence that the 6 in a row happened after he left...
I do. Openly says that we wanted him out because he was a geordie. Nowt to do with the fact he ruined something which was once very very good.
This completely. Always said we wanted him out fir that reason and nothing else. He ignored the fact that his record was truly awful when he was sacked!
