I very much do, 1950, with Godfrey in the centre and moving forward into a DM position when we have the ball and dropping back when it's lost. That would allow the CM to move up into the the hole behind the striker, but also dropping back when the ball is lost.
I completely agree that this has been an incredible transfer window, with NO 'marquee signing', but lots and lots of players signing extended contracts, plus another free transfer and a couple of high profile loanees. The furore re the Dafabet sponsorship seems to have subsided as well. #happydays
Wow! Emi signs a 5 year deal! That's massive. I thought he'd get a new contract to up his wages, up his value, maybe a % relegation wage reduction. Was expecting a 3 year deal. 5 years is surprising, but fantastic.
Yes please! Quality, quality player who would fit in our system so well. There is a lot of Emi about him.
Ontiveros is talented but undisciplined; 11 yellows and a red in 33 games. He does show a lot of heart in the videos above. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300365/Fixtures/Javier-Ontiveros
Great news re-Emi, Ontiveros sounds interesting but another we wont get. As for Reed, it's no thanks from me, I didn't think he was particularly good for us first time round at a lower level. He's not a RB, so shouldn't be considered as a backup one. Where does the blighter play? He wasn't much cop kn defensive midfield and I cant see how he gets near the starting xi anywhere? Bah!
Emi is a hot head who is frantic and charges in. Daniel has tamed that a bit. He still has the odd flair up. But you need a bit of bite. His cards wouldn't put me right off a player like that. We wouldn't have signed Emi is we were worried about his temperament. Our staff get players who are potential but over looked or faulted, and craft them into proper players. He could be the same. He has a hell of a lot of talent.
Ontiveros apparently has a £6.7m release clause and wants a move to the Prem. Sounds even more Emi-like. At the top end of affordable, but I can believe we want another attacking midfielder, purely because of the players linked rather than due to the squad composition. Cantwell out on loan perhaps?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Linked with a lot of attacking midfielders, and even went through to contract with that Scottish lad. Got to be looking at other attackers after that broke down. Obviously a position they really want to strengthen.
It may be that Fitzpatrick was the other option on that one and we've been working on that one for a while. It may also depend on whether DF sees Drmic as an option on either flank, given that he's played there before.
Cory (@iwritethings23 on twitter) really is the font of all transfer gossip. Latest thing they've found: On the Wrath of the Barclay forum, someone claiming to be In The Know (and called the Buendia and Heise moves), thinks there is interest in Bowen, with Marshall likely to go the other way. The club see Bowen as an option at #10 as well as wide. Apparently it's a really complicated deal (haggling, and getting the second player deal agreed), so might well drag long into August. RB still also on the shopping list, perhaps another defensive addition too.
Club are being most excellent at tying down all the talent. I'm sure Webber has a sensible set of relegation clauses too. please log in to view this image Bah!
According to Read Norwich it's a done deal: https://readnorwich.com/2019/07/09/zimmmerann-agrees-new-four-year-deal-with-norwich/ If so, I think that makes 14 players who have now signed new contracts: Aarons, Lewis, Godfrey, Stiepermann, Cantwell, Klose, McGovern, Hernandez, Krul, Pukki, McLean, Idah, Buendia and Zimmerman No new deal yet: Hanley, Heise, Tettey, Trybull, Thompson, Leitner, Vrancic and Srbeny Plus Roberts, Drmic and Fährmann
