Bit of insight from SaintsWeb ITK user Manji who has a strong track record... An event from today that I wouldn’t normally bother repeating. A certain player ( let’s say a rising star) returned for training . One of the first things they do is check body fat ratio which is set before they go on holiday. It was slightly over the level. It was immediately reported to Ralph who insists on knowing everything. The player was summoned to Ralph’s office and given a severe dressing down. They are very precise ( no shouting or swearing) but you are left in no doubt you are in trouble. The player was told he is , at least , going to miss the beginning of the pre-season tour and even worse he was going to be subjected to a daily fitness regime, much feared by the players. Ralph is very popular with the staff but everyone is aware if they don’t perform they are in trouble. Apparently he is totally focussed on the clubs success to an OCD level. I only repeat this to show the bed wetters that we have an amazing manager and he means business.
The player in question is believed to be Callum Slattery, by the way. Would justify the fact that he's been totally anonymous from the (clearly briefed) explanations of absences from media sources since.
I'm a bit gutted at lemina seemingly going. I honestly thought king Ralph could sprinkle some of his fairy dust over him. With the right attitude he could be one of the best players outside the top 6. But on the other hand, it's amazing to have a manager we can believe in and trust again. You can't help but feel if Ralph says he's not right for us, then he's not right for us.
This one hundred times over. If the last three managers had said Lemina isn't for us, you would raise eyebrows and think that they were mad. Ralph thinks it and we feel at ease.
Not exactly a romp in the sunshine. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...pton-austria-pre-season-training-camp-day-one
It’s only a brief segment, but Forster looks good in that, like he’s lost some muscle bulk and gained in flexibility
I thought that too when I saw it. Being such a tall keeper he needed to be leaner to make him more agile.
Didn't someone say recently that Forster was the best in training...he needs to transmit that to the pitch. The problem for a goalie is that once you lose your spot it is hard to get it back...you are waiting for other keepers to drop clangers or (heaven forbid) get injured.
I really wish that they would set a better example and wear helmets when on their bikes. Kids will be watching, plus they are valuable commodities who shouldn’t be put at risk of receiving a bad head injury.
On Reed, I assume it's just that it's been decided he's going. But on the one doubt I have, is he definitely 100% fit and back in full training? I remember he came back to us near the end of the season because he was injured although he has been in some training pics.
May look the same, but this is a video. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...pton-pre-season-training-camp-austria-day-two
Big season for Cedric, Hoedt and Elyounoussi. The first two get a fair amount of stick from certain quarters of the fan base but have both put in MOTM performances as well. They need to perform consistently at the level that got them MOTM for Ralph to be interested. Ely is a strange one. Not seen anything there to shout about yet but given we tracked him for a number of years, I guess the talent is in there somewhere. And Ralph must see it too otherwise why take him to the training camp? Lets hope we see a new player this season gaining from the players brought in around him.
Looks like Cedric seems to be willing to fight for his place again. Never been his biggest fan, but under Ralph who knows. And I'd be worried relying on Valery for the whole season.
