Been waiting for the Murray/Williams game, but couldn't leave the Evans game. As you said, a cracking match.
Nadal thrashed Sousa 6-2 6-2 6-2 Evans had a lucky escape....though I'm sure he'd have liked the chance.
Good game....looked like Kvitová was the better player in the 1st set, but Konta took over for the next two sets. She has done this before....she doesn't panic...just calmly carries on. Has a good serve and is much improved. The number one has been knocked out....you never know.
Tennis is a very strange sport. Just how are 3 old guys and an old girl still dominating? I remember sitting in a cafe in Sarajevo in 2008 watching Nadal and Federer fighting it out at Wimbledon. It's 11 years later and they've just whooped their opponents!
https://www.countypress.co.uk/sport...-equalling-island-games-gold-medal-haul-2017/ The Isle of Wight doing well in the Island Games....a mini-Olympics for islands around the world. I love the idea of this event...a sporting event where people who aren't big time take part for fun and where making new friends is important, since no big money is involved.
She will come a cropper when she has an opponent able to take her big blasts and then manouevre her around the court.
Djoko, Nadal and Federer must be unique because in previous eras, players of this age were not not winning slams, Connors and Rosewall apart. Laver didn´t win any after his 32nd birthday.
I remember an old team mate from when I played for Newport IOW used to compete in that... can’t recall his name though
Quite amused to watch the Halep match as my girlfriend is sitting behind her coach so is on telly the whole time!
Serena wins. Meantime the girlfriend has moved and is sitting behind Gael Monfils in the Svitolina match.
Konta was off today and her opponent played very well.....perfect storm. Meanwhile, Murray/Williams went through....Serena was excellent...Murray was a bit off his best, but that is hardly surprising. Great pairing though....I think most of us would do well with Serena as a partner.
