Yes but don’t tell anyone as it’s all part of a great master plan and the players going are all ****ers for one reason or another
We are still a selling club and the other clubs know it. Skint rads himself gave the game away when he said all we could afford was loans. The guy needs to learn when to shut up.
Well as the dust settles we are still no clearer as to what and why with Pontus. A couple of comments overnight from sections of people who are normally close to the club have suggested whatever happened was bad, really bad. Bielsa had some fantastic things to say about Pontus at the end of the season and now things have gone toxic. Some say Bielsa warned Pontus about something and Pontus then did it again? Another has said whatever it was happened whilst Pontus was away with Sweden and it cant be something he said as everything ends up back here in print. behaviour can mean anything from sulking to doing something criminal, but to want to get rid at a knock-down price? And as I've said elsewhere on here why now, what happened to tip things over the edge especially after letting O'Connor, Halme and Diaz go last week, leaving 2 Cbs who have never played in the Championship at the club and Cooper. Berardi was supposed to be going to Brescia too? This club cannot help getting into the media for all the wrong reasons and after a great week on transfers we get this. Nobody is bigger than the club though
Leaving out the conspiracy theories, maybe he was sold for same reason as Clarke, money. Btw it appears rads is bigger than the club
Selling your best players for hard cash and replacing them with loan players could be termed asset stripping. Why, maybe a conspiracy in the offing.
He says they’ll be ‘much more of a squad’ not a ‘better’ squad, so if they fail to get promoted (which is all that should matter) at least they’ll be happy failures.
Good point. I was taking the theme from the posters that he was unpopular with the players because he made it all about him. I phrased it badly. My apologies
Bielsa is a firm believer in the T.E.A.M. acronym...together, everyone achieves more. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
I know but generally the team with the best players in it win. We’ll only know next season if Bielsa is right. Like others I’ll trust his judgment, I’m just saying he’s upped the pressure on himself to start well.
"And if players want him gone because he is too popular with the fans then they need to grow up" There's your quote London. I may have misread it, but I thought you may have heard something through the grapevine
Fact of the matter is that only the Blunts achieved promotion in the right way because Norwich did it with parachute money and then we saw 2 clubs in the play off final who are charge with cheating for breaking FFFP rules. This allowed them to get some of the best players. Lets face it if Villa get a points deduction in the Prem it means they stole promotion from a team that didn't cheat. Derby will also get a points deduction this coming season but should have got it last season as Birmingham did. Fair much?
But if one of the better players causes unrest with his attitude the knock on effect results in lower performance levels of others within the team. By replacing that player with someone who's not even necessarily of the same quality, but buys into the 'side before self' philosophy and has the respect of his teammates, then performance levels as a whole would rise.
