I have followed the build-up for this tournament for a while now and I don't understand why Saints haven't been included into the tournament, the teams involved from England have all been beaten by the current Saints u18's. I might be wrong and that they have been asked to compete but I think this would be a great opportunity to test yourselves against the best academies in Europe such as Barcelona. I guess the organisers are looking for 'big' names to attract the publicity and sponsorship. However, Saints have produced a number of decent players so as long as the conveyor belt keeps going I won't be to upset about the tournament. Anybody have any thoughts on it? It was through invitation only for this season. They hope to increase it to 24 teams in the future. Hopefully they use the Academy League tables in the future...should see us up there in a flash.
Very true, it would be nice to see Saints give Barca/Ajax a game as they are the stand out academies. We shall wait and see till next year then.
I very much doubt we were invited but part of me thinks its a blessing Perhaps mixing with the 'big clubs' could have unsettled one or two of our boys development? Plus it goes a little way to keeping our next generation of the radars of europes so-called-elite....for now
