That would be high for a GK in Germany. €30k-55k has been quoted on Twitter, so I'd guess it's more likely to be around £40k, which is probably in line with the new PL contracts being negotiated with our top players. Great that it's been sorted. I can enjoy the weekend now! :emoticon-0100-smile

That would be ok. Around 50K would be a mad signing.

    Farke's view:

"It was important to bring another goalkeeper in and our target was always to bring in the best goalkeeper we could get. We are convinced that Ralf is totally the right choice. He is a pretty experienced guy, played at the top level and has many appearances in the Champions League and German Bundesliga. He plays for a massive club (Schalke) which is one of the biggest clubs in Germany. He's an unbelievable character, hard working and a lovely guy. As the skipper at Schalke, he knows exactly what is necessary for the group and for spirit and togetherness."

The suggestion on the sports media on the slaveowners side of the channel is that this will only be a one year loan. Fahrmann was first choice keeper for some time, went through a bad patch and the young lad who took his place performed miracles. Schalke are a selling club and the thought is that if the lad plays like he did last season the big boys will come calling and he will be sold leaving Fahrmann to come back as first choice. If he doesn't perform well then, again, Fahrmann returns as first choice. Either way, having paid that sort of loan fee, Fahrmann is not going to be sitting on the bench next season.

My thoughts exactly. Looks like Krul will be back up. Until Fahrmann makes enough errors.

If Ralph lets in lots of goals they will be rotated same goes for Krul.

Neither will have guarantees to start, the club surviving is the only priority and strengthening in goal can only help .

Schalke have now signed another young keeper, Marcus Schubert, who turned down interest from Arsenal and several other big clubs to join 04. Having loaned Fahrmann to us they obviously needed to replace him as cover, but Schubert is a big talent and will certainly have his eye on the No 1 spot.

In spite of my questions about this deal, signing Fahrmann is a statement from SW/DF that the GK position would not be one that would keep us from staying up next season.

Welcome to the Club, Ralf. :emoticon-0167-beer:

(just felt another little tremor here in Vegas, a little stronger than yesterday's) <yikes>

Isn't Vegas a place where numerous people wish every day that the ground would open under their feet? <whistle>

Ha, yeah; I've known a couple people with gambling problems who had to get help. I learned my lesson long ago that the casinos win sooner or later, so I rarely bet on anything anymore. Although, I might put a cheeky $10 on Canaries to win the PL this season. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Had an uncle with a bad gambling problem. I could never understand how, despite both having good jobs, they lived in a prefab. One time he found my aunt's bank book and blew the entire contents at a horse race meeting.

Meanwhile back to the transfer front, Adam Idah signing a new contract and now getting his chance to impress in the pre-season could be seen as like another signing. His recent record certainly whets the appetite:

"He enjoyed a fine first season in Norfolk and scored 15 goals in 23 matches at under-18 level, forming a prolific partnership with Anthony Spyrou which helped propel a run to the quarter-finals of the Youth Cup. Idah also plundered nine goals in 12 games for the Ireland U17s that season and, after a brief taste of U23 action during his first campaign, he was promoted to City's development squad for 2018-19. He adapted quickly and fired 13 in 24 matches for the U23s last season, earning a nomination for the Player of the Season award for Premier League Two. Add to that an impressive eight in 14 matches at U18, U19 and U21 level for Ireland during last season, including reaching the semi-finals of the prestigious Toulon Tournament this summer - and his total was 21 in 38 in all competitions."

It will be a big test for him but if he makes it our chances of survival in the PL could receive another boost.

    Wildschut has joined Maccabi Haifa

Hull showing interest in Ben Marshall, probably just a loan deal though

Villa to pay £26.5m for Tyrone ‘stamp on your head’ Mings!!! That’s crazy money. He’s only played 23 times for Bournemouth in 4 years after his £8m move from Ipswich!
