Argentinian Pella defeats last season's losing finalist (8th seed South African Anderson) in 3 straight.
No "Racket of God" involved here - well played.
Meets another big server, Canadian Raonic in the round of 16.

Damn, I really hope Gauff wins the whole thing. It would be fantastic to see.

Showed superb character to make that comeback against Hercog.

I missed the match, but saw the studio spunking over her.

Yes, she's 15, but she's not British. I think they went over the top.

Konta's finally turned it around. Couldn't seem to get going. Now 1 set apiece and she has a 3-0 lead in the third.

Murray out of the men's doubles.

It's oft said that comparing athletes from different eras is folly.
Training techniques have improved, nutrition has improved and equipment technology most definitely has improved.
Watching tennis for over 60 years, I thought about this today as my 2 favourite players of all time were both in centre court - namely Roger Federer and Rod Laver.
    It's impossible to compare them.
55 years ago Laver was poetry in motion.
    Today Federer was brilliantly sublime.

Borg is up there as a game changer, as were Laver & Federer. Quite a few others over my 60 years of watching; Rosewall, Emerson, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi to some extent. Others like Osuna, Santana, Nastasi & Becker added lots of spice & talented opposition. All superb in their own way. Of course Djokovic & Nadal are up there. Shouldn't forget Murray either.

Edit. How could I forgot Connors ?

Quite liked watching Evans today. A bit of a street fighter. Troubled past and by the look of him, has a few hurdles ahead, but great to watch and hope her gets his head straight, could be a good player for the next few years. A bit of McEnroe in him.

Yes, was a good match. As you say, he's a bit driven & somewhat hyper, but deffo has talent and looks like he has some determination to put his past indiscretions behind him. Could turn out well.

As disappointed as Cori Gauff must be to lose today I think it might serve her better in the long run. I can't imagine how a 15 year-old would cope with the pressure and exposure if she'd gone on much further.

Yes, David Gower used to say it took hours and hours of practice to make batting look so effortless.

    Aye just poetry in motion.

Think djok will win it. Mind.
But it'll be a few cracking games with the three of them.
