The Tigers welcome Portsmouth to the KC after 2 wins on the bounce and 2 clean sheets. Pompey won the fixture at the KC last season while the Tigers won an exciting match 3-2 at Fratton Park. Pompey haven't lost in Hull for a while so will be confident coming here and they are a side who appear to have goals in them after the match at West Ham last weekend. Although the Tigers haven't enjoyed the same success in front of goal, aside from a hammering at Leeds they've being defensively sound. I expect a tough and close game on Saturday but think city will win it 2-1 (although a draw wouldn't be a bad result).
We've had some crackers over the years, hard to predict.. last season's 3-2, the heartbreak loss 3-2 in the PL when Folan bagged a brace but we threw it all away along with our PL survival.. Deano's last minute equaliser season before and in the same match Glen Johnson scored just about goal of the season.. that was 2-2.. They're a tough old nut to crack and I'm always happy to take sth out of the game.. especially when Kanu is still around.. the crafty youngeter him.. 1-1
I'm going with a 3-0 home win. City will be confident after 2 wins on the bounce, and I'm pretty sure its the start of our match up the league. McLean will be brimming with confidence and at least we have a player who isn't goal shy in Waghorn. 3-0 with Waghorn x2 Fryatt to come on and score! UTT
Big ups and downs this season so my head says 1-0 to them and a load of moaning on here after the match. If we get over the home jitters we should be able to beat Pompey.
I just hope they dont come here to camp in there own half like most the teams do. The reason behind us beating Reading is because they came here to play too
Thought Reading were ****e personally. Thought they'd come here and have a go but they were awful. City played better than they get credit for that day. Just need to find the scoring touch. City 1-0 Pompey. That'll do me fine.
They were, but they didnt just sit and camp in there own half, they actually tried to have a go, although they were rubbish
Come on Fellas, surely we've got to be hoping for more of a goal fest. Although I'd take ANY win regardless of the score I'd like to see us score more than just one goal for a change !!! Waghorn & McLean to score in a 2-1 win to City !!!
A wins a win and another clean sheet helps maintain the goal difference after that one off thrashing by Leeds. Doubt Pompey will be any push overs either.
I'm a bit worried about this one. Can see City 1-2 Pompey but hope our rejuvinated strikers can prove me wrong.
I would tend to agree with you Golaccio, I think it will be a very close game with one goal that will decide it but I suppose its just more wishful thinking on my part really. I hate the goal draught situation we have experienced under NP, it was the same last season as well. I want us to firstly score more than one in a game then SMASH a team by more than 3 goals, I think its long overdue in front of the Home supporters but I dont think it will be this Saturday. I give Pompey more respect than that but please City lets bag more than the solo effort !!!
When NP took over he inherited Brown's collander defence which was a mammoth problem for any manager to overcome. The necessary emphasis on defence has caused the goals to dry up, but NP isn't a knee-jerk manager and when he gets the attack right it won't be at the cost of unbalancing the rest of the team.
