That's seriously their best excuse for Keegan turning his back on them yet again. I can't remember the last time I saw Keegan spending time in the media. Even if he's actually up to his neck in work they've only asked him to be a figurehead .... it would take a few minutes ffs. No Mags, he wants nothing to do with you because you're a bunch of mental cases "We have tried Kevin Keegan," Wallace Wilson, of the Magpie Group, revealed. "To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why but he's quite reluctant to do it. Probably because of his other media stuff I would imagine."
I don’t quite believe it to be the case fully. He’d turned them down several times while with us with a very similar package to be fair to him. After a few years of being fed bs, I don’t blame him for upping sticks and then accepting a lucrative position. We’d all do it. Some of us, at the first offer
Search for a world-class manager. Find one. Then piss him off so he goes. Get in Joe Kinnear. Sounds like a plan...
Benitez can't be blamed for going to China for the money as you say. But it renders everything he said about his visions and projects a sack of lies tbh. If he was anything like a world class manager he'd take a world class job tbh, China is for money and nothing else. BTW word is Rondon wants to go to West Ham ...
And he wants a £250 million transfer budget like the Fat Spaniard, funny how those lads at Wolves and Watford manage without playing 8 in defence
I have Mag relatives in Chopwell, they're glad to see the back of Benitez and his 'brilliant defensive strategy' ... 20% possession may win points but its really boring.
They were truly awful to watch under him mind, and casually overlook a relegation and the fact he’s signed some absolute steaming piles of ****e as well. Good business getting £30 million for Perez mind (although it’s £16 up front rising over about 4 years so they won’t ever see it)
Great business. He’s been very up and down with us and some people have been fooled by his good spell towards the end. He’s a good player but not sure he’d make their first eleven. Could be wrong though. Not that it matters to us. The money we get won’t be reinvested .
Only good with Rondon as well mate, where’s the foil at Leicester? It’s a great deal for you that. He’s just a bang average, low scoring player without Rondon.
I’m not sure he’d get a world class job personally. As great as I think he is, no top PL or La Liga team will take him due to previous teams he has managed or how his performances were perceived. Those between the big 6 and where I have us, wouldn’t take him as they’re already stable and have good managers. It was probably his only option. A very lucrative one but his only one nonetheless (I suspect)
Almiron changed his game completely too. That’s what caused the uplift in performance. Although the kid scored no goals and got no assists, he really brought other players on and got them to perform above their usual standard. I guess it’s a wait and see. He’s a good lad and I wish him all the best to be honest
Aye he will likely do ‘alright’ on the basis that Leicester have proper quality right through the team. They’ll be a very good side next season under Rodgers, pushing for Europe for sure.
He will get them playing some great football and they’ll be there or thereabouts. He could get them into the top 6. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U are gettable for them in my opinion. Although Emery could produce something special at Arsenal.
I’d be surprised if Arsenal did much. They will lose Lacazette to Atletico I think, and they won’t be able to bring in near that quality as a replacement. Factor in Torreira being desperate to go back to Italy and all the CB’s bar Sokratis being poor, no left back, and no left sided attacker and I can’t see them being anywhere. Plenty of time for changes of course.
Thing is mate - he left you on the Sunday and joined them on the Monday! He didn't even say "let's give it a few weeks and see if the takeover happens, then I'll throw my hat in the ring for Newcastle" That tells me he has little to no affinity with Newcastle as a football club.
I gave up with itinerant badge kissing mercenaries years ago and find these 'teen crushes' quite cringy. MON claimed to be a lifelong Sunderland supporter but have you ever seen him at a match he wasn't paid to go to, me neither. I never believed a word of it tbh. Newcastle supporters are really cringy with this relentless 'adopted Geordie' routine. Anyone they like is anointed as part of the Geordie Nation whether they want to be or not. Keegan is like MON, worse in fact. He actually demonstated he was just there for the money by suing NUFC. He's the Yorkshire Geordie to add to the countless others ... .... they have them all from Scouse Geordies to Cockney Geordies, not to mention the countless foreign Geordies. We can all get carried away with it because we hope people love the club as much as we do ... but they really don't. But it's easier to see from the outside and it's been fascinating watching Benitez play the Mags like lovesick teenagers. He knew Ashley's reputation before he took his money, everyone does. He relegated them and then, once back in the PL, played some of their worst ever football. Yet they believe he's world class because he won things back in the olden days .... ... much like MON when he came here and bored us to death. At least we can admit he failed though tbf.
I don’t expect nor buy into the “love of the club” idea. His actions following what has happened are fine by me. There is no take over planned. It’s all a load of nonsense and I suspect Rafa already knows this. Players, managers and, eventually, owners come and go. The only ones that truly care about football clubs are the supporters. You and I. Although in saying that, I may go watch a few South Shields matches instead of Newcastle ones. I live nearby and have been meaning to go.
