Yeah same as in Germany with Leipzig they wouldn’t be allowed to touch the name, be the RB Arena (as with Leipzig, Salzburg and RB Brazil), which isn’t remotely offensive. They have a formula of growing youth systems and investing in the playing and sports science side, they aren’t a feather in cap’ owner they are about building long term and sustainable clubs. The thought excites me, frankly. As it did 6 years ago.
The only problem with the RB Arena is you know the skunks would call it the Red Bullshit Arena. Make a change from the SoS, I suppose...
Bloody hell, I didn't realise they had a club in Brazil too. That somehow passed me by. Seems they established that one from scratch though, unlike the others. Is that right? The whole thing sounds good to me. As long as the club is sustainable and won't fold if they ever decide to sell up, I can't see the problem.
Yeah, they had issues with Salzburg and Liepzig both getting into Europe, I’m not sure what happened but both were allowed to compete. Salzburg fans protested as they felt Liepzig was being fed by them, but they have continued to waltz the league every year and that died down. He’s only passing mentioned, but it almost feel like he’s putting the feelers out, why name specific clubs? He’s named us and MK Dons, coincidentally the clubs in the league with relative state of the art stadiums, and it fits with the Liepzig blueprint where they were able to heavily invest in the playing side as the stadium was renovated for the World Cup and bought at a massively reduced cost as was state owned I believe. They took Liepzig through 4 leagues and into CL, although they did disband the original Liepzig club alienating a few. It hadn’t been around long in reality. They are hated in part in Germany, same as Hoffenheim and to a lesser degree Wolfsburg and Leverkusen, as they aren’t seen as a true sporting club, the latter 2 were works teams and Hoffenheim an amateur club, so folk felt they bent the rules around licensing by staying ‘amateur’ and therefore being able to spend outside the DFB ‘% of what you earn’ structure. This wouldn’t apply to an English club of course. We have got and proper and FFP, but Red Bull could legally and openly give us a higher than expected sponsorship citing global brand growth. It’s a very, very workable scenario for a well established brand like SAFC.
It's definitely an interesting scenario. The one thing that I would say is that MK Dons might be easier for them to takeover. When they took over SSV Markrandstadt, Austria Salzburg and NY/NJ Metrostars they changed the club colours as well as the name of the club. That change in identity hasn't gone down well. I would have thought that changing the identity of MK Dons would be easier than changing ours as their's has already been messed about with. Having said that, I'm not sure the FA would allow a club to be named after a commercial enterprise. We don't have the tradition of work's teams competing at the top level like they do in Germany.
Yeah the FA wouldn’t allow it, nor would we stand for it as fans. The fella knows he couldn’t change the name of a club, the rules are clear in England since the MK disgrace and the Hull Tigers fiasco, the colours wouldn’t be an issue I’m sure, RB teams play in red and white, no stripes though. It’s all fantasy island as it stands anyway but it’s a nice idea.
****ing do it for me. No problem selling your soul for success. Success is worth far ****ing more than the soul that has got you sweet **** all.
