don't actually agree with this statement.. there is an opportunity to acquire a quality player at a reasonable price, should we line up with Kalas Webster DaSilva +1 we would have a formidable "looking" defence. We are also in the game to to move on players "if the price is right" … usually at the end of a season when we can get in replacements! [should we fail to get prem football ]. The "others" need proving, irrespective of what is assumed to be their ability … they have been on loan and systems and styles can be vastly different to what is expected at AG.... so they may very good but if they don't fit in! ...well out on loan/sell/move on whatever ….
Many of them as a stop-gap RB. To be fair he did his best there but was lacking in that position as well. LJ has tried to play him, not least because he signed him to play CH. LJ even gave him the 5 shirt and the club captaincy but as sometimes happens it doesn't always work out. The only way, as I've said on here before, is in a 3 but only temporary. No for me I'd want LJ and MA to get in a replacement for Webster before the opening league fixture. And I'll bet they have one lined up already.
City sign Rowe and Gilmartin Monday, July 1st 2019 City have signed Tommy Rowe and Rene Gilmartin from Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United respectively. Versatile Rowe, 30, who can play in centre midfield, left midfield and left back, has agreed a two-year contract with 32-year-old goalkeeper Gilmartin also putting pen to paper on a two-year deal. Former Doncaster Rovers captain Rowe started his career in the Manchester United Academy before moves to Stockport County, Peterborough United, Wolves, Scunthorpe United and Doncaster Rovers. Rowe has twice won promotion with Stockport County and Peterborough United, respectively, while he also led the Posh to their first major honour - the Football League Trophy in 2014. Dublin-born Gilmartin has represented St Kevin’s Boys, Walsall, Watford (twice), Plymouth and St Patrick’s before he joined the U’s in July 2017. The shotstopper has also played on loan at Hednesford, Yeovil Town and Crawley Town during his career. City Chief Executive Officer Mark Ashton said: “I am delighted to welcome these two very good players to Bristol City. They bring a wealth of experience to the squad and both have big roles to play at this football club. “Tommy `will be an invaluable figure both on and off the pitch and his versatility will no doubt be another major boost. “We are delighted to have acquired the services of Rene, who will also work alongside the younger keepers at the Academy and across the City teams. “It’s really important to have that extra competition for places and I am sure they will both make a big contribution to the squad.” https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/city-sign-rowe-and-gilmartin/
I think you mis understood me John, I was actually making the point we need someone to replace Webster if he goes.
Not sure what these guys bring to the table,i do not have a clue if they are any good, still somebody must have seen something in them. Are they championship standard that is the question.
Do you honestly think the keeper has been bought here as first choice??? He's been bought as cover to let Max go out on loan and to act as an emergency if Niki and Bentley clobber each other in training. If he plays more than 5 games for us I be surprised. Its a cheap option just to cover us in an unlikely event.

Exactly sensible signings which give us cover and allows youngsters out on loan to play football instead of sat on our bench

Fair play , I must admit I was beginning to doubt your sources. For me we just need to resolve the Webster issue, hopefully keep , or more likely sort out a quality replacement and find a striker. My feelings are Striker likely to be a loanee, possibly the guy from Arsenal.
understood your comment … I merely pointed out with those 3 and a chosen from the others [ wright etc ] we would have a formidable defence … besides acknowledging the fact we "tend to sell if the price is right or the face is not fitting the puzzle …. only piece left has to be a mate for Fammy …..
